Here's my short maiden Gazaur Mars 480 flight at the Southern California Heli Club Funfly Dec, 17, 2007. No fancy 3Dz on the flight as I wanted to get a feel for the heli. Feels very stable and tail locked in very solid. Probably the best tail lock I've felt of any other 450 size heli I've owned. Flight was cut short though due to a radio lockout I experienced.

Yea, they were really quick. And they stop on a dime too with the 401, JR 3400g combo.

What are your thoughts on that landing gear setup.
I've read a bit on it and the concept of "popping" apart on hard landings, but it seems they could potentially catch in the grass, etc.
Your thoughts?

What I did was added hot glue to the lower parts of the landing skids keeping them rock solid on. Then on the other part that attaches to the frame, I used fuel tubbing for a snug fit, but will also pop off in a crash. I already had a bad crash due to my reciever locking up, and the skids poped right off really nice. Not worried about them catching on the grass either, cause it needs at least crash impact force to make them come off.

Cool, thanks for the input. I've been eyeballing the mars for a bit but wasn't too sure about that part. Very sexy looking bird I think...

Another note also is that the build is not an easy one. Took me a few days to build, and then mod a few parts to get it to fly perfect. Though once built, it did fly more stable than a Trex 450 and the tail locked on rock solid.

That thing looks really twitchy and not what i'd consider stable. Looked like you were having to chase a hover quite a bit. Did you ream out your links so they are nice and free?

Links were kinda tight. Some of the link are odd sized and need to break in on there own. Not too worried about it as I was just dialing it in.
