View Full Version : Actro 32-3 heli version question
I am using an Actro 32-3 heli version in my latest Ion and have mounted the engine with the MA adapter purchased from Heliproz. I have read with interest the posts about the threaded portion of the pinion shaft breaking. I have put a great deal of effort in making sure that everything is vertical and true. My question is that when I spin the main gear to visually check for trueness and look down on top of the motor at the coils, it appears that the housing of the Actro turns true, but there is a slight wobble of the coils inside the housing as it spins. Is this o.k.? Would like any advice, but would particularly like to hear from Chris as to what he thinks.
Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed
Only the outer part of that motor should rotate. My guess is that if you can see anything on the inside moving, something is wrong. Go over to www.actro.de and drop Frank Koehler a line and ask him what he thinks.
None of my Actro motors does this, and I have watched after them. I have seen one 32-3 that somehow spun the insides and wrapped up the speed control wires. The motor was still firmly bolted down to the plate but the core rotated maybe 360 degrees. Machine kept flying but made a mess of those wires.
Let us know how this pans out.
Chris
The coils are not spinning at all........they just "wobble" a little instead of being motionless. It's as if when the pinion gear shaft rotates, the insides of the motor "wobble". I don't know how else to describe it and I wonder if the screw that comes out of the pinion shaft is "true" or perfectly parallel to the shaft. Hope that clarifies things. It is not the motor....only the casing spins.

hey , Ed , the new motor I have in mine , 32-3 airplane version , does the same thing , not the can turning , the inside , like he said wobbles or looks like it wobbling , and yes its hard to explain , I havent flown mine yet , but its 95% done and been waiting for a while , motor had a broke wire , and wouldnt start , when I first got it right out f the box a mag was loose , man I sure hope I dont have any problems with it
Tony
I also wonder if the wobble is caused by the pull of the magnets as you manually spin the can?
