Is there a mod to prevent the fuel tank from wearing out from the rattling back and forth between the frame halves?

OK I'll assume that you have a Raptor 30 or 50. Has this actually happened to you or do think it might? I have some of the oldest Raptors on the planet and although I've busted a tank or two in crashes I've never had one wear out from moving about in the frame. All three of my tanks are tight in the frames horizontally with just a mm play vertically. The only issue I know of with Raptor tanks is that some guys have punctured the little mounting lugs trying to remove the tank without removing the two rear landing gear screws first. One more thing, some guys have used two long a screw mounting the boom supports and have punctured their tanks.

My first tank started leaking pretty early on. Maybe my frame has a little more variance to it? The present tank still has quite a bit of slop to it.
The reason I'm asking is I'm waiting on a 30v2to50v2 conversion kit and I figured that'd be the time to address the problem.

I don't really have a solution for you, but I'll ask around. Just out of curiosity, where did your tank spring a leak?

On one of the nubs that fits into the frame recess.
It sounds encouraging that you've had no issues whatsoever. Maybe I'm addressing a problem that doesn't even exist. Maybe I had a bad tank.

It could be that you did get a bad tank. I have seen one or two that were a little thin around the nubs, but that was a year or so ago. I think TT addressed that problem.
However, the nubs can be a problem if the tank is removed without removing the two rear landing gear screws. Actually, one can safely remove the tank by removing just one of the screws, but it takes a little more pressure to spread the frames. Now, on the other hand, if your tank is removed forcibly such as in a crash all bets are off. This, from first hand experience. :YeaBaby:

Put a couple of pieces of servo tape on either side of it to keep it stationary.

Usually if the tank is removed without removing the back skid that will make it leak I did it once long time ago:arggg: But didnt know any better back then cause had no one to show me:DOH
