Generally, a longer flybar rod/paddle gives better stability and gives good cyclic response too during flight but overly long flybar rod and heli can be over responsive . Thats what I was told. I read reply of someone experienced with a longer flybar rod here but can't remember which post. I am ready to try and I need help.

Can a t-rex600 flybar rod ( 400mm ) or TT raptor be used with the stock hurricane paddle ?

How long is too long - measuring from one end of the paddle to the other one ?

TIA.

I have a package of each Raptor and Trex 600 flybars to try at some point. But I haven't yet.

They are all the same diameter so the paddles should fit.

I use a Raptor 30 flybar. Better cyclic response than the stock Hurri unit.

BTW for reference.

Hurricane 550 flybar - 340mm

Raptor Flybar - 384mm

Trex 600 Flybar - 440mm

Just looking at them, the Raptor looks reasonable. Trex is a HUGE difference.

My understanding of flybars is that the longer the flybar the less responsive it will be........or I got it reversed?

The T-Rex has two different flybar lengths, 400mm and 440mm.
I replaced the stock H550 flybar with a Raptor flybar and it helped alot with cyclic responce.

What was wrong with the cyclic response using the stock flybar length?

I went to the 440 Trex 600 flybar after my first crash and i will never go back! It actually made it twicw as stable in hover and FFF but made a huge difference in the roll and loops.

Longer flybar increases response (longer lever arm for the paddles to work) and increases stqability (paddle weight further out means more gyroscopic stability).

So a win-win deal. I may swap the Rapotr flybar in today.

That can easily means you have your flybar over 550mm in total length - ( from end to end measuring at the paddles ) ? Are you using the stock paddles ?

So can you confirm that for a novice, who wants the heli to be stable.... doesn't do barrels and loops.. and basically does left to right FFF... a Raptor 30/50 flybar with the Raptor Paddles (Or do you still use the stock paddles with the EP550?) will be a good move? And that the flybar fits the EP550 no probs?

Yes- It is probably around 550 mm and the paddles are stock. I like the hover stability it produces. It reacts more like my 450se in manuvers thouigh which is good for me because it eliminates the need for me to use expo on ail and ele. I would assume that the heavier TT paddles would make it more stable in hover but slow down response in loops and rolls a bit.

i couldnt get hold of stock 550 flybars so i got trex 600 flybars using stock paddles.... very stable ,good for beginners.........i had to tone down the stock flybar cyclic

Just saw this post on fly bars. I have been using the Raptor 30 fly bar for several months with CF 500 Huri blades, Gaui light weight paddles and the cyclic response is much better than the stock setup. I just setup the Custom CF frame and haven't flown it yet.

Nothing :) People just like to modify something...

I am satisfied with the stock flybar. I can loop, roll, and flip all day with mine.

But it is sooooooooo much sloooooooooooower than my 4S T-Rex 450 at 3400 HS though... :) :) :)
