It happens on many radios. It is the oils and such coming from your hands that causes the problem. Fuel on hands just accelerates the process when handling the radio.

AU$3600 and 6 months old, i dont really expect fading from a Tx of this calibre
from a cheaper Tx maybe, but then again my old JR 388X still had everything in place and all letters/numbers/words on the case and the guy that i gave it to saw a Brand New pic of one on the net, and said he couldnt destinguish between the two

i am pretty anal with my equipment and i am saddend by the cheapness

i clean it once a week with a damp microfibre cloth

if this is how the top end Tx are, then my ranting is for nought

What do you dampen it with? Alcohol will remove the lettering.

You're gonna have to get some of these to mark everything! ;)

The reason I ask is one day I was using one the Bausch & Lomb pre-moisten (alcohol) eyeglass cleaners to clean the screen and then used it to clean around the gamble I noticed that it tried to remove the white marks on the gamble. So now I just lightly dampen a cleaning cloth to wipe these areas.
My 14MZ is about two years old now and the only fade is where I used the eyeglass cleaner.

Just to let you know... not only my letters have fade but I have also bubbles and paint chipping away in some areas of the front case. I tried to have the case replaced at Robbe Germany but was asked US$750 ($900 actually since my Radio isn't a robbe original) for the service.

DavidH was kind enough to point me to another direction since Futaba US also refuses to service my radio since I live in Europe.
