Besides the obvious wording, exactly what are the physical differences between the two?
Are the frames cut differently?

What size servos do they accommodate for cyclic?
Tail?

Is there something ‘different’ about the hitec servos that warrants a different frame?

Thanks for the responses in advance. I’m obviously a bit ignorant with this heli.

hi,

HDX500SAH uses mini Hitec servos such as HS-81BB, HS-81MG, HS-85BB, HS-85MG.

HDX5000SAS uses standard servos.

Some people likes standard servos as they are cheaper.

On a 500 size helis, the standard size servos will cost you 3 ounces. If you can do more than hover, 3 ounces is a HUGE amount of weight on a 500 heli.

Charley recommends the 81's, I always go with his recommendations.

Right, but with standard servos my 500SAS is about 200g lighter than my 500SE.
The question for the SAS is how to fix the canopy ?
The elevator servo is in front of the rotor mast and is a bit wide.
If a guy has some hint or a picture on the canopy for the 500SAS, I will be glad :)

Merry Christmas !

Maybe this is helps
install the elevator servo on the inside of the frame without cutting the frame )Take the top of the servo off , turn the heli on the side inset the top of the servo inside the frame and put the servo together from the outside and done ,no need to cut the frame .
