well today had some great flying.... but for some odd reason the idle was pi$$ poor and when I started to give it throttle it was very unresponsive..... the needle valve was about .65 roughly quite lean I thought... by the end of the flight I had richened it out to about .72 .... as soon as I got back I whipped out the plug and noticed that its was grey and distorted, my bad for leaning it up, changed the plug for tomorrow, and I have turned the needle valve out 1 turn from fully closed and go from there....

Don't forget that in colder weather the engine will run leaner due to the air being denser

Thanks for the tip..... So would it be running richer on a hot day???

I believe Mark may have it backwards, in the cold the engine needs to be richer because of the more dense air to keep the mixture intack. Yes on a hot day it will be leaner, not much at all. The most I have ever seen is two clicks either way. Then again it doesn't really get that cold down here, so your results may vary.

yeah it will run richer on a hotter day. Which isn't a bad thing as it doesn't destroy the engine :D. Just no power and sounds like a 4T

Don't think so Bud.
In the colder air the engine wiill run lean as opposed to a hot day when the engine will run richer with the same needle settings
In which my original post is correct

On a cold day, without changing the needle the engine will run lean, so you have richen the needle setting.
And vice versa for hot.

Sorry Mark, I read the thread to quick, when I re-read it, I feel like a dumb-a$$. You said exactly what I said, just different. Sorry...

You were saying the right thing, just the opposite way.
You were saying in the cold, you have to richen, which is right, you richen because the engine is running too lean.
