Hi all,

My servos on my Heli seem to do a lot of chattering when it is stood around doing nothing. (obviously its turned on at the time). The servos are 9452's.

Anyone else get this? Ive checked all the links and they seem fine.

Also I have the GY611 with 9256 which is rated at 4.8v. Do i have to step down the voltage to the tail or does the GY611 do this?

The servo chattering is normal.

The 611 does not have its own step down, you have to use one. If you're using a regulator, most of them have a step-down for powering the gyro and tail servo.

If you're running a regulated system above 5.5V, you will need to step down the voltage to the tail servo. The 611 does not do this for you.

Sh*t!! do you think ive damaged it? I havnt stepped it down and i use the align 2 in 1?

I dont remember reading anything about this in the handbook!

Yes you need to step the voltage down or you will burn out the tail servo.

You can buy a stepdown, or for a fraction of the cost make your own. Buy a diode from Maplin - IN4004 - for 10p and solder it inline on the red servo wire, cathode (white stripe) towards the servo. This is what is inside the Align stepdown anyay!

Cheers guys

Thats the one, pop it between the gyro amp and the tail servo.

Anyone know the reason for the chattering then?

Thanks

if i remember correctly digital servos are always adjusting their center position hence the chattering (or buzzing) what ever you want to call it. hope i answered that correctly.
