Got it flying today at Supulveda Basin flying field, man what an impressive bird!
Bert M helped me for a little while, motor isn't running quite right, seems to need more rpm to idle than it should.
What's the deal? What should I adjust, look for, what? argh?.....:)
Starter motor in the TT kit I got won't turn it over. Can I hook it up to my car battery? and will that make a difference? I tried a motorcycle battery and that didn't make it work either.
They say the 90 size are easier to fly but mine is very very responsive! JR8717 cyclic servos, 9256 tail w/611 and 9253 for throttle.
This thing scared the hell outta me! I like it! :YeaBaby:

Expo, buddy...I needed -40% on my Vibe to make it less frightening. :) Those servos you got are lightning fast, too.
Have you tried leaning your low end screw? Did you route the fuel return from the carb back to the tank, or to a tee in the fuel line?
Take your time breaking in that engine, too. The C-Spec is a tight engine, and needs around 4-5 gallonsl til you can make real power with it.

I decided not to put any expo in, I wanted fast for a reason.
Set up the Throttle Jockey rev limiter/governor. It's a good set up that lets you control the revs until it gets to YOUR set rpm. It is designed for the raptor so it installs real easy and the numbers for your radio are real close and it was a cinch to set it up.
It is a giant. :YeaBaby:

This Heli flys awesome!
If you want to have fun, this is it! 90 size rocks and the Raptor is a mainstay in this arena. :noteworthy
Makes me want a 50 for my next heli. or another Raptor 90? :smokin::thumbup::YeaBaby:
The 600N looks like a toy compared to the Raptor 90.

I'm in the process of getting this thing the way I want it but it flys pretty good just the way it is.
I was using the Rotor Tech blades and switched to the Thunder Tiger blades and there is a big difference. I gotta get it set up before I can really make a good comparision but I will say that the Rotor Tech 710s have way more performance than the TT 710s.

For those following along or are in the process of building your own Raptor 90, I suspect there will be a few that are building the 90SE or 90 Pro. For the record, mine started life as a 60 and has been converted, it was converted before I got it and I was told it started life as a 90. I bought it from E hobby house in Reseda CA, it's the only thing I've bought from them.
It has aluminum frame and billet bearing blocks. I've bought all the billet bling for the head as well as the aluminum frame stiffeners.
It has the 60 gearing in it now, 93t main 11t pinion. I'm going to use a 95t main and 12t pinion for 7.92 gear ratio.
One item of note: I used the fuel tubing the guy at the LHS said was right, It was too small and caused it to run lean, on a new engine. Not happy about that but there's nothing I can do about that now but live and learn. Use 1/8th ID fuel line on your 91 C spec or any 90 size

Main blades: So far I've used the Rotor Tech 710s and the Thunder Tiger 710 carbon graphite. The RTs work really well and the TTs are a bit prone to bogging and are heavy, noticably. I have a set of Radix 710s (stick bangers) and will run those this weekend. The Rotor Techs have a defect in the tip on one of the blades that I didn't notice until after I had them on, a small area on the tip of the blade is open, open weave, I would say pin holes but they are bigger than that. Pegasus hobby said they will exchange them no problem.
I'm told the TTs auto real well so I guess it's a trade off.
I bought some Curtis Youngblood stubz only to find out that they arent' that great, in fact, the red paddles work better. Very disapointed that I wasted my money on the CY stubz. they cost $45.
Also, I had to buy the Sullivan starter for the 91 C spec also bought the Makita 18v converter for it, cost was around $300 for everything. I bought the "afinedgedesign" adapter and it leaves a bit to be desired, it works but it only attatches with one fastener. I thought they could of done better than that. It works, but could be better.
The Cspec is prone to hydralock and it shows, I have to go thru all kinds of stuff to get it to work without skreeching the starter clutch. When filling the tank you need to clamp off the main fuel line and return line to help prevent hydralock, which happens every time. I've had it leak directly out of the carburator, and wouldn't stop until I started the engine.
Hope this helps the new guy, I had to find all this stuff out on my own with very little help.
Post up any questions you have about building a Raptor 90 here.

Flew again today, it was cold but I flew anyways. Tried out the Radix blades and really liked them. Still have the Rotor Techs to test and I liked those the first time. The Rotor Techs are the first blades I ran this with and need more testing.
Got another gallon of Nitro to burn.
