Can I put a OS 46 in a Raptor 30

I got a Raptor 30 and I sold the 50 and I got 2 OS 46 engines and I don't know if I can mount it without the upgrade kit I hope I don't need it because I got alot of 30 parts.

Yes.
Just use the 50 engine mounting parts. The motor mount and the fan have to be changed, but the rest can just go as is.
However the 46 was know to be tempermental.
I had one in my first Raptor 3 years ago. Ended up destroying it and got an OS50 when the first came out.
The 50 SXH is a much better running engine.
Look for the mods that were made to the carb on the 46 or maybe try one of the newer carbs on it.

hammer i put an os50 hyper in mine.i got a convertion kit from heliproz,comes with every thing needed to convert it to a 50,and i beleive the mount will work with the 46 also.there was a note in the kit that said to make it a real hot rod, you could leave it a 30 size.

Wouldn't use it in a 30 without a good governor, tho...or at least a Rev Max. That is, unless you want to see a spectacular explosion :shock:

Long beofore the R50 came on to the scene, Dave Berry in Wichita made a mount that would allow the OS46 to be put in the Raptor. These were the V1 days, when wahwahs were almost as irritating as drilling a hole in the carb body to fix a lean midrange problem with the 46's. The mount didn't look too different than it's predecessor that TT made, strangely enough.

Now for a moment of silence for all those V1's that succumb to the dreaded woof and poof.


You can run a 46 in your raptor, I think you need to get a different mount though. Just be judicious with your pitch and throttle curves, and you should do ok.

thank you for the info my OS 30 is still running strong for now. for pitch and throttle curves would I use the Raptor 50 setting?

The curves for a good running 32 are going to be closer than the 50 IMO.
I would bump the midpoint down a hair and try from there.
No need for a governer on the 46 IMO though.
I had one of those Dave Berry mounts. :D

Make sure you change the gear ratio to 8.5:1. The 46 will not be happy at the stock 30s 9.6:1

Keep it 30 gearing BETTER= I have both Rappy's 50's with 30 gearing and the run Great :smokin: :smokin: :twisted: :twisted: using T/J Pro with them
