Had a bad glow plug on my OS50 after about 5 gallons. How often do the plugs burn out?

Was this the orignal plug since new (includeing engne break in)? I normally replace the plug after the first gallon on a new motor just out of habit. There are a lot of things to consider regarding plug liffe. Remeber lean is mean, but to lean is bad. I have had good luck with the OS #8 thru all the seasons up here in the Denver area you need to pay attention to youre mixture adjustments all the time for any given day with regard to youre ambient surroundings and even more so if you are running on the edge of making max power all the time. If youre running on the fat side (richrer mixture and lower engine temps) with decent performance you benifit by not haveing to be spot on youre mixture althoiugh I might add when the mecury is on minus side of 32 degrees you need to listen to youre pipe and watch youre smoke also since engine temp can be misleading.
Hope this helps.

5 gallons isn't bad but as he said, it depends on how you're running it.

my first plug didn't last a gallon.. 5 gallons is alot for a plug.. i typically replace mine every 2 to 3 gallons wether they need replacing or not.
