I was planning on going (and still may) to this, but they've limited helis to 30 minutes of flying per day...

Align has decided not to attend as a result...

If you were thinking of attending and this may affect your decision, you might want to chime in at this thread on RCG: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=789006

Nice to see that we're still 2nd class citizens, even though we're the fastest growing segment of the hobby...

Well it seems 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins is the evening is a fair compromise.

Not too sure about the fastest growing segment of the hobby. From talking to hobby dealers that deal in the RC hobby in general. They still sell more airplane stuff than they do heli stuff.

Don't know why you posted this in the events section. Does not seem like your promoting the event.

I posted it here because I thought there may be some Freaks who were planning on attending this that didn't know about the limitations, and there was no existing thread. Didn't seem logical to put it elsewhere.

Registered pilots at IRCHA this year outnumbered any other major event. In my club, we've gone from one heli pilot to ten this year, and I don't think that's an isolated incident. There are still more plank flyers, but the growth is in helis...

I just think their solution sucks. We fly helis and planks together at my field and I think many here do the same. Paying the same registration fee for 1/8th the flying time is BS...

Yes at a couple of fields I go to. Helis and planes fly together. But the main difference is there maybe 2 planes and 2 helis in the air at the same time. Not like it would be at a large event. I guess there time table for helis only is a measure to prevent an accident from happening like happened at the NEAT event back in the Fall. Heli got into the crowd and hit a person. I understand the heli was trying to move out of the way of an airplane.

No need to really gripe about rules and conditions that the organizers of the event set forth. I am sure they have a good reason. No one ever knows what is involved in putting on a large sanction event till they do it. I have been putting on one of the largest heli fun flys in the USA for the last 15 years. Even at a heli only event, there has to be rules for everyone to abide by that are not popular with everyone.
