I hate it when stuff like that happens :arggg:
I don't mind just dumb thumbing it ,,but any maintanance stuff or the wrong switch or routine of things make me crazy :wow2: :whip
Glad to hear that 3 blades work o.k. though ... even the twianeese ones :happyd:cheers

I know ... the GEAR switch is gyro gain on every single one of my other helicopters. But on the Twinn Rexx, it's crash off/on. I'd like to disable channel 5 from the switch, but I don't think the DX7 can do that.

I'm sorry for your incident. I hope it didn't damage it too much. I'm glad it didn't happen while you were in the air, it would have one heck of a mess. Don't let your buddies push you into doing anything you don't feel like doing yet. I bet none of them were ready to hand over their plastic to pay for the results of what happened.

Chinookmark,

You can disable CH5 from working with the switch. It's done from the Input Select system menu.

ch53e, don't worry, no one's pushing me but me! I was by myself when I crashed, and it was just me being careless. I had an audience of about 20 people for the first flight, and I bet half of them wanted to see a good crash. The only damage I could see was one broken blade. I'll do a good teardown inspection next week. I've got some mods to do anyway! >:)

I'm glad no one pushed you. I know what it's like to have buddies egging you on or even performing before a crowd. I've performed at our flying club's airshows and felt like I had to fly better than I ever had.

I'm glad that the damage was minimal. You have a beautiful machine.

Here's my newest scale accessory. :) This is what you get when a Micro Desert Truck, a model Humvee, a Dremel, and some Gorilla Glue get left in the same room.

I wish I was able to recreate military equipment ( PLAY) at work. Mark, you already have a nice looking bird now you show off a Hummer. We want to see the Chinook lifting the Hummer with the winch.

Just kidding ... no peer pressure here. I'd hate to see you destroy your bird.

Enjoy seeing all your pics and video's.

Why do you think I bought the Hummer? :D

Believe it or not, I actually built this at home.

I'm sorry ... now looking closer at the photo's .. I do see cabinets and a tile floor. Not the usual Tool Box Helipad that we have seen in the past.

If you do any lifting with your Chinook ... My prayers are with you and your bird.

Mine also ...as I noticed a big difference in lift when I put on the fuse .... and I can't seem to get any more RPM ...so I had to put in a couple more degrees of pitch, I'm thinking that I need to re gear mine .
Good luck on the lift ...this is going to be so cool

chinookmark,

Where in CT are you at? I would LOVE to see that thing fly. After I get some more stick time in I would like to do a Chinook of my own.

Can someone describe the flight charecteristics of the twinn rexx? please. Im trying to decide if I should press the order button:arggg:

Like a trex ,,,2 times .:thumbup::roll:
collective /elevator / ail all handle about the same as a normal rex ...other than the elevator plays a little havoc lifting off .
The rudder on the other hand is a little subdued ... slow responding .. more like an older heli with a mechanical gyro type and a slow servo on it too .
It is controllable but not what most are use to these days.

In forward flight you notice a little drop of the tail as the rear rotor passes through the front rotors wash ,,but you soon get use to it and automatically add a little forward at the right time .

That is as good as I can describ it ... other AWSOME :smokin:
punch the buy button you will love it :)

Right now I'm stuck in Niantic Minimum Security Detention Center -- our less than affectionate name for Camp Rell, eagerly awaiting my 4 day pass, during which I will be sequestered in the My Girlfriend's Bedroom section of CT. I'll be somewhere in the middle east by the end of the month, so no Rexx flying for me. If you want to see the helicopter, it's hanging in RC Hobbies and More in Winsted, CT.

I heard a rumor that my friends from work are going to commondere (sp?) the heli and fly it while I'm gone. Good luck to them figuring out which of the electronics I removed. >:-)

I don't blame you one damn bit. May your mid east travels treat you well.

chinookmark,

I'm sorry you have to travel overseas, our thoughts and prayers will be with you. If it were not for our serviceman we would not be celebrating the 4th here in the states.

I've been away from this thread for a bit. My son started playing lacrosse this year at school. About half way through the season he broke his fibula. Surgery, Titanium plate and screws and 10 sessions of physical therapy, he has clearance to play again this fall.

I pulled out the Twinn Rexx and blew all the dust off of it. I double checked all the settings and finished the set up last night. Charged up my battery packs and prepared for the next day.

Called a fellow flyer for an extra set of eyes for the maiden flights. The only adjustements I needed to make was to decrease pitch in front blades increase pitch in the rear blades to help the bird hover level. Needed to also increase the Yaw sensitivity and add increase my expo to 40%. I found it very easy to over control the bird. By the end of the first battery and through the second battery I was able to hover the Twinn Rexx hands off.

This machine is everything and more than I could ever expect. Joe has created a wonderful product and the group of guys here that have helped me I am forever thankful. Heading back out to the field tomorrow to get in somemore flights.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Thank you again to all of our troops!

John
