I tried the 9 tooth (Raptor) tail gear in my 10S 600 with the 623 Maniacs and SAB 95s on a Quick UK tail. The tail held much better. I won't run 105s because the places I fly don't get mowed often or have some pretty tough vegitation. Also the 720XL neoprene belt I tried was static free as well.

Mikado has announced a 12 tooth mod .7 pinion. I have been running a 17 tooth mod .5 in the 8S Logo with 600s, it seems strong enough to handle 8S, but now I could get close to the ratio I want with the mod .7 gears. I wonder what is stronger, 12 mod .7 or 17 mod.5?

I'd guess it would be similar - bigger stronger teeth of the 12/.7 offset by more teeth engaged on the 17/.5 - Sounds like a job for Mythbusters !

I know I'm being lazy John but what is the teeth count on the L600 standard wheel - I suppose I could go and count them but it is Boxing Day !!:smokin:

10 is stock Mikado, 42 on the driver for a 4.2 to 1.

Does the Raptor tail gear drop on or do you have to mod it? Do you use the Mikado tail shaft or a complete Rappy tail shaft & gear?

I also fly off rough vegetation and 105's won't last long!

The pullies are different. I used the Raptor shaft. It is a little longer so a flat has to be ground.

All the Mikado tail pullies I have in possesion are 9 tooth. I believe I miscounted for this original post. This is the #3046 and #2466. The driver has 42 teeth. Anyone want to check me on this?
