Is the esc gone?

My son fouled up his new cp + today.
got the battery lead caught in the main gear. before i could get him off the throtle we smoked something. I assume that we burned up the main motor esc portion of the "3-in-1", but not sure. whats the best way to issolate/diagnose my problems? like to know exactly what happened before i order.

Best way to figure out what is broken. plug new battery in and try to fly, what happens? Does it power up, are the servos moving, motor? You tell us and we can help.
