Good Day everyone,

I'm putting together a new Lepton Ex and was trying to sort thorough the equipment i need. I have two Align 450's which i enjoy but wanted to get a bigger eheli.. just not one that looks like a TREX hehe

It willbe a 4S 3700mahr 25C set up for the moment that may go to 5S. I kind like this setup:

Motor: Kora 15-12, 24T hirobo pinion
ESC: CC45HV (Jazz to expensive :D )
Gyro: JR G770 (Overkill? GY401 good enough?)
Rudder: DS3400G
Cyclics: HS82MG

I just wanted to ask on the CC45HV. I'm not really sure what the difference is between a CC45 and a CC45HV is. So i'm wondering how can a CC45HV handle higher amps (60A plus) that i hear this bird will pull? What makes it different from the normal CC45?

Alternatively, I was thinking of a CC80 cause its comparable to the Align 75A but my hobby shop doesnt have it and they say the CC45HV can be used.... The reason for CC is i like the governor mode. i have a CC35 on the 450's and it works really well, and its not so expensive as the Jazz units.

Appreciate all comments in advance and Happy Holidays :D

Regards,

Rob

Would a CC60 be enough? Anyone?

I'm building a similar spec machine. I opted for a CC80. I haven't built it yet so I can't comment on how it works :)

Readiheli saya a CC60 will work fine so I'll probably go with that....

has anyone datalogged a Kora 15-12 amp pull in 3D flights? would just to be really sure before i dosh out :D

Highest peak I've seen with the 15-12 is 76A

If your going to run the Kora 15-12 you may want to consider a 22t pinion, the 24t pinion will put headspeed around 3400 which may be not good.
I run a 15-12 with a 22t pinion and headspeed at 90% thr is 3100 rpm.
The 401 gyro will work fine on the Lepton, also get the new futaba 9257 servo for the tail and not the 9650

Eltavito,

is 76 peak amps? or prolonged 76A draw? might go for a cc80 then.

3seconds - thanks. i'll put that in the order. I was going to order a 19t pinion as well just in case i go to 5s.

76A was just one of the peaks during a set of tic tocs.
I use an 18T pinion with the 15-12 and 5s. It works great, lots of power.

Thanks Eltavito.

What headspeed do you get at 18T? What throttle curve %?

I do tictocs on the V2 with a medusa motor and a cc35. Tictoc practice will drain an 1800 in 3 mins.

For the Leton, CC80 then... so its ready for 5S if i want to go that route. I'll just order a 22 and 18T RevCo pinion with the EX set.

2900 RPM with the jazz 80-6-18 at 80% flat throtle curve.

Thanks... just waiting on kit and component availability. Should be ready by end January. CC80 and a 18T pinion should be good together with the Kora 15-12.

80A is too much. you won't need that. 60A is enough.

I have 2700 rpm with Kora 15-12, 5S and 18T pinion. 72% on Jazz 55-6-18.

Rotodingo,

Thanks. Even with tictocs and high collective 3D the CC60 will be enough? I plan on doing alot of that with this heli haha... appreciate your inputs

Yes. 60A continuous means at least 80A for 10 seconds! No problem!

A friend is shacking is HDX500 with a 45 A CC... No problem either.

I run a Jazz 55 - never gets hot - I have 79 amp peaks (very short)

I run 4S 3700 and a Kora 15-12
The 21T pinion works really well for me - 78% flat (that's the max in gov mode on the Jazz)
The 22T pinion was bit too tall - the battery got hot and the head speed was not as good

Thanks guys... CC60 it is then. Appreciate your inputs on this project.

So are you getting the Trex 500 also?

I can't justify having a TRex500 also

If I did not have either I would buy the TRex500 simply on a cost basis

But I do love my Lepton - it flies extremely well and the quality is fantastic
I'm coming up to 100 flights - only had to tension the tail belt so far

Jafa,

what RPM's is 78% with the Jazz 55 do you get with 21T? I plan on using a CC60 with an 85% headspeed of around 3000 rpm. Will run governed mode. Same motor and lipo (4S 3700 FP or a 4S 3200 KP)

One thing to realise is that 78% ATV on the Jazz is actually full power
I was getting 2790 to 2830 at the start of the flight with freshly charged cells

I'm also looking into using the Evo Lite 4S 4250mah pack
It can handle the current (lower C rating but higher pack capacity makes it ok)
So this sould give me longer flights for the cost of about 30 grams

I'm currently doing 5:45 on Evo25 4S 3700mah

You have to calibrate the esc and your Tx to have the red led on only with throttle stick āalmost 100%. Lets say 97%. You will then have a lot more logical % for the throttle curves.

Yeah true - but as I run a flat curve I don't need more logical control or more granular control over the throttle - it works fine at 78%
