I would like to buy a 550, if I can get significantly better flight times than the 5 mins, more or less, I get from my Trex 600. What flight times can I expect? What set-up would be best for extended times? And, where is the best place to buy one?

The best price I found on a new one was on ebay for $255 which included shipping but they don't come up often. Other than that, from what I found, thundertiger4u.com and infinity-hobby.com has prices on the low side compared to others.

A Main Hobbies has them for $279, but I don't remember about the shipping. Besides that would be Infinity, but I thought the shipping was around $50? Better check out the price of their shipping before trying to save 25 buck and spending that much again in shipping. I bought mine last year from East Coast Extreme Helis for around $289, but I can't get onto their website at the moment to look up current prices.

Flight times depend on setup and how you fly. At 1830 rpm, and flying gentle circuits/hovering I would use about 460 mAh per minute out of the battery, at 2030 rpm and hard collective usage I would pull close to 600 mAh per minute from the battery. Use that to figure flight times based on what battery you will use and how you plan to fly. This heli flies great at higher headspeeds very well, but below 1800 rpm it's great for learning too.

OMG!!! I just checked shipping on that $255 E550 from Infinity, $95!!! Whoa, are they packing them in a wooden crate for transport?!? TT4U is $277 plus FREE shipping and AMain Hobbies is $279 plus $15 for UPS ground. Looks like that low-priced overseas deal isn't such a deal anymore.

The lowest I've found it was at A-main for 399.99 thats with the motor and esc.. 279.99 is no motor and esc if you plan on going a different power setup....
