Can someone tell me how to configure the use of Idle-up on Phoenix using my DX-7? I can't figure it out...
Thanks in advance,
Jose

Calibrate your Dx7 using Advanced Calibration, Then Under(Your Controls )choose Spektrum DX 7 with or without(23%Expo) That's what I did, and Idel up works for me.

I would advise setting up the sim to leave all controls linear (no expo, 0-100 pitch curve, 0-100 throttle curve) and set up the curves and expo in the DX-7 the way you want them for Normal, ST1, ST2, and Hold. Of course, you'll want to create a Phoenix-specific model in the DX-7 so that you don't mess up your real-life setup.
Under "System" and then "Your Controls" menus I edited the throttle (check box under the "Expo" column) to have a "50% V-Shape" throttle curve to get idle-up to work. Idle-up is on all the time but it is easy to re-edit to a linear curve if needed. I am not sure if this the proper way to do idle-up but it worked for me. Good luck!

I tried everyone's suggestion and Alan's (TheBum) suggestion works the best for me. This is exactly what I was looking for. It works very well. It gives me more control than the preset profiles on the simulator. Thanks to everyone who responded.

I'm with TheBum. Having the radio set as close as possible to the way you'll fly for real cultivates good habits and feel. That's why we try to dial the sim models as close to reality as possible.;)

Does the Phoenix Sim help DX7 owners to better understand the way in which the DX7 works, and its many functions? Or does Phoenix simply provide a pre-configured setup for the DX7, so the Sim can be used to practice heli flying? I ask, because although I have my DX7 programmed to fly my TRex 450 properly, I simply followed online advice and have only a bare understanding of why I programmed it the way I did. What's more, the DX7 has a lot of functions that I left Inhibited -- which seems to have been the right thing to do, because my 450 flies fine -- but I'm very curious about what those DX7 functions can do. Is Phoenix any help with that?

Not really. Phoenix doesn't use CCPM so a lot of that will not transfer over.
Did you watch the Finless videos? He explains the whys as well as the hows.
Other than that, ASK.

Thanks. I did watch the Finless videos, as well as Jermo's DX7 setup video. That's how I was able to build my 450 in the first place, and get the DX7 programmed properly to fly it. What I'm really looking for though is a computer-manual-like book that explains when and why a DX7 owner would use each of its features. The DX7 manual is good on "how" but says nothing about "what" the DX7's features do, let alone "when" or "why" a user would want to do them. Because I haven't been able to find the kind of manual I'm looking for, I began wondering whether I could teach myself, simply by experimenting with the various features, using a sim. (I certainly don't want to experiment with my actual heli.)

Which features?
That is why I said to ask. :)
