View Full Version : TRex 450SA - "bouncing" when hovering?

I've got a TRex 450 and I've only been flying for a few hours. I spent a fair bit of time on a simulator previously, and I can keep it in a pretty stable hover, but sometimes it seems to bounce vertically in the air.
It'll drop gracefully 8" or so, then float back to where it was previously, without any change of pitch or throttle. It don't think it's due to wind, as I only fly when it's pretty gentle/no wind at this point.
Any tips? thoughts? things to check or try?
Thanks,
Jay

Higher head speed? That seemed to help mine.

Didn't seem to help. I was running much slower, but after following all the videos posted here it's running a lot higher head speed, and it's much more responsive and stable except in this one instance.
Is it possible that I'm somehow affecting pitch when I'm twiddling the right stick to keep it in one place?

Wind. You learn to fly and adjust.

Yeah, I'm getting there slowly. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a setup failure on my part.
Thanks for the info!

i had this problem too with my axe cp. when hovering in the house it would "dip" quite a bit. about 8" like you said. outside, it didn't do it unless it was breezy. so i attributed it to rotor wash indoors.

I've basically confirmed this via some more flying in different areas and weather. Indoors when I was flying the space was large enough to not get much wash, so I wasn't seeing it when flying in the garage.
