Anybody use the raptor skids on the Hurricane 550? I noticed they are a bit heavier...heavy enough to affect anything flight wise?

We just fitted a set of Raptor 30/50 skids to Junge Bobs Stock Hurricane.

They are heavier but not hugley, changing to 3300 or 4100 batteries has a much more significant impact on flying.

The new Skids look very cool in my opinion and will really help with stability for us new pilots. (JB dosent really need them he's just a belt and braces type of guy)

If Jungle Bob is reading this he might post us a picture or two with his new fiberglass canopy.

Hope this help

Ben

those raptor and rex600 skids bolt right up, or do you need to drill?

I used the Raptor skids and I had to drill a hole just for the peg that fits into the canapy. Also, I had to use 2 longer screws because the plastic on the Raptor skids is thicker. The 2 longer screws that come with the stock landing gear worked fine but the 2 smaller ones were just not long enough.

Do you need to buy the complete Raptor brackets and skids....will the 550 metal struts work....or is the diameter wrong.?

Same question to the Trex guys....do you ned to buy the whole set up?

The Raptor ones need the skids and the struts. The EP550 ones are way thinner. Also, no drilling to get the skids on. The only 'tricky' put was getting the hole made for the canopy holder in the front. Mines actually super glued on, and is 100% fine.

For Trex 600 need skids as well - different diameter

Hi!
Here's mine... I used a set for a Raptor30. Holes were 1mm closer. I mounted the canopy holder at the top. I used a screw to mount it. I used the top because there's enough space and this way the canopy is a little bit higher at the front. Now I have a little bit more space between my 5s lipo and the canopy. The second image shows the skid in detail and the difference with an Gaui one...

I bought those as well as the other Trex 600 ones - but I prefer the more rounded ones plus they are lighter

Fredrick...what frame is that?

mknope019 :
it is just the stock plastic frame but does hold up pretty well even with some tight 3d maneuvers
would love to get the CF frame though :D

Oh Im sorry..I meant canopy not frame. It doesn't look like the stock plastic frame. It looks real nice!

does anyone know which skids are tougher? i snapped the front gear brace right by the antenna hole today when my esc cut out from low voltage. i wouldn't really even consider it a hard landing. but it was just under 40f maybe the cold made it brittle.

I have tried Trex 600 standard and 3D skids. The Trex 600 3D skids are much tougher.

Do you need to drill any holes for Trex600 skids?

Hi Guys! Other struts and skids is cool, but please be aware that during crash it is much easyer to brake your plastic frame using raptor or trex 600 struts\skids!!!
