I have a new BC6 and a new Flightpower EVO25 5000mah 6s 22.2v LiPo that I want to charge. When I measure the battery voltage with a voltmeter it measures 23.2 volts. ...I have read that no LiPo cell should ever go below 3 volts and that I shouldn't overcharge the battery. My quandry is I don't know how much charge is currently in the battery so I don't know the correct length of time to charge it.

If I understand the BC6 manual correctly, it looks as though I am suppose to setup the correct charging parameters, such as selecting the LiPo recipe, 6 cell, and setting the charge current, which is straightforward. The only other charge parameter I see is charge time. How is it possible to determine correct charge time if the current battery charge is unknown? Is there an automeatic function somewhere that will automatically turn the charger off once the battery is fully charged or is charging strictly a manual operation? If it is totally manual, how do I determine the correct charge time?

Yes, you should select lipo, 6s, and balance mode. The timer is just a auto shut-off in case you walk away and forget. The balance mode will automatically stop when the battery is fully charged - but you still want to be around watching during a charge, just in case.
