Hi guys, I ran into a problem at the club today. It appears my os 50 hyper is blowing glow plugs like theres no tomorrow. The engine has been run in and leaned out to just over 1 complete turn from shut on magnum 30% The guys at the club looked at my settings and also agreed that my valves were ok. But after every flight im needing to replace the glow plug. Im using an OS no. 8 plug as recommended. I havnt touched the low end settings, i left them at factory settings. It only seem to start popping after i started leaning it out.
I just hoped if any of you guys had any ideas, if so I'd love to hear them.

The only time I've ever had that problem, it was running too lean. Richen it up a bit before you melt a piston!

What do the plugs look like after they die? Do they appear to have metal particles on the coil or what is left of it?
Bearings starting to detoriate will kill glow plugs. The particles get in the plug and short it out.

David made me think of something that happened to me. I used a little too much RTV silicone on my muffler and each time a bit got on the glow plug the engine would die. Did my first two real autos due to this.

The coils seem pretty clean, no residue that i can notice, theres bits missing too, the guys at the club advised me to strip it down and make sure there wasnt any in the head doing damage. I think i'll try to richen it a little, I only seemed to get the problem when i started to lean it out.

I agree with the mates at your club. I would definitely take the head and back plate off the motor and inspect it. Yes usually leaning out the motor too much will cause them to sag and die. But the plugs will usually handle this a couple of times. From what your saying the plug is no good each time this happens.

Also I'd try an OS A5 if you're using 30% nitro.
