I got word that my 500CF should be at my house by the end of the week. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/BBates/Thread%20Animation/party.gif I was not planning on being able to get one so soon and have not completly decided how to set it up. I am going to use an AR6200 receiver and 3 HS5245mg servos on the swash. Now I just need some hlep with which gyro/servo to use on the tail. Right now I am a sport flyer with some loops, rolls, and flips mixed in. I have just begun to learn how to hover inverted so hard core 3D is a ways off.
The three setups I am considering are:
GY410/9257. How well will this setup work with my style of flying and will I be able to progress into inverted flight with the 410 on the 500? I am running a 410 on my 450 and have had great luck with it.
JR G770 3D/ DS3400G. I have heard some people running this setup with success and am leaning toward this combo.
CY Solid-G/9257. Finless used this setup on his and it looks like a very nice combo.
So any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to attempt to get everything ordered tomorrow and hopefully start my build next weekend. I just want to get a good setup that will last as my skills slowly improve. Thanks for any and all help!

You might consider the SpartanRC 790 for sure!
I will be moving mine into the 500 to try out.

The GY401 or G770 look like the safest choice. I plan on ordering the G770 for mine.
Have fun with the build regardless which gyro you choose.

The Spartan was on my short list but I can't find it in stock anywhere. I really want to get this in the air and solid quickly without laying down the cash for two gyros.

I am gonna use a 401 and 9254 servo on mine. Just use the 600 tail servo bracket and the 500 hoops and your set............ The 401 should hold nicely ( I hope) :) ;) :D

Does anyone know if the full sized servo in the tail works ok, (balance...etc.). I want to run my GY611 on it also.

Honestly I cant believe how well my 401 and 9257 tail servo worked flying today! I ain't kidding guys. Something about this heli's design it just works great with a 401. Backwards inverted seem easy.
I was going to switch to a 9254 and try that later but seriously I don't see a reason. I am no hard core 3D master like Justin or Torkboy but I know a good feeling tail when i fly one ;)

Sweet! Then this is the route I will go right now.
I just watched your latest 500 video and if you are using the 401/9257 in that video it will be more than adequate for my flying!
I picked up 3 HS-5245s from my LHS today and will go back tomorrow and pick up one of the 401 and 9257 they had on the shelf.
Thanks again for everyones help!

I understand why everyone switching from a 9650 to a 9257 as the tail servo of choice on a 450 and it seems that its doing well on the 500 also. I haven't seen anyone trying the trusty old 9650 on the 500 tail. I am moving a 401/9650 from one of my 450s to my 500 but need a little forum hug.
Don't worry, your 9650 will be fine. I'm using 4 x 9650 all around and haven't had a problem yet.
I'm also using a GY401.
I'm not a crack 3D pilot though.
Happy New Years!

thats good to know also bob... I don't know if you are talking about me, or another Justin, but I am not quite the 3d master. :) :P I only fly with Torkboy because he helps me push myself harder than I normally would....

for the time ive had it flying (had electronics failure a while ago), ive had the gy401 with 3400g, the gy401 with a full size 9254, and a 611 with s9256.
all of them work fine but for those that experience tail delay known from the 401 such as during piro funnels, and you dont mind running a full size tail servo on there, then the 611 will be your best bet. i currently have the 611 hooked up on mine and while its very similar to the 401 with 9254, i like the 611 more because i do not have to deal with the 401 "delay"
will be trying soon the jr 770 and 8900g also with 3400g.
