Im looking for the least expensive solution. I have the greatplanes charger where i can charge upto 4 batteries at the same time but it doesn't have a balancer. So how can i charge and balance at the same time?? Do i need a Blinky? Are there any less expensive alternatives? This is for a 2100 3s lipo for my trex450

What size packs are you trying to charge?

My best advice is to poke around for kgfly's charger reference...

My preference is for the Cellpro chargers, which both balance and charge, but their current offerings only do up to 4S. The 10S one is due out mid-January, and a 6S at some later point.

EDIT: we really, really need that reference put into a sticky...

I think a blinky is probably your best bet. I have the same setup and have two blinky's. I alternate them between packs. You can also check the packs that were not balanced after charging with the blinky.

You may want to try a Flightpower V-balancer. It plugs in line and balances while charging and if any problem arises it terminates the charge.

If you want easy try this out http://www.maxamps.com/MA-Method-Balancer.htm auto detects wether your in charge mode or standalone mode and with the addition of a Y-harness balance adater you can balance two 3S packs at the same time as a 6S pack. Also if you purchase a series adapter for the packs you can charge and balance the same to packs as a 6S pack. It will also work with Hyperions Adapter boards for the Align taps and TP taps so you can do virtually any pack on the market 1 to 6 cells.
