Greetings all. Hey, is this where the ION owners hang out? I noticed that RR is pretty dead as far as the ION goes. I'll have my new Hacker ION by next Wednesday. It's primarily going to be for camera work but I fear that I won't be able to resist the temptation of going out and throwing it around from time to time.

Welcome Low&slow,

Yes this is the place to be, RR has alienated most of the Min Air guys and Heli Freak has welcomed every one regardless of brand loyalty! There is lots of good help hear, I have been flying the Ion sense it’s very first shipment, Chris S from Min Air is also hear, he devised the power system on the Ion. There are also people hear that are using there Ion’s for camera work. It might be a good idea to read through the threads hear on the Ion before yours arrives. Then if you have any moor questions ask away :glasses2:

Thanks guys. Can't wait to get started. I'm shell shocked at the price of 5S4P lipos. I live near Dymond Model Sports here in San Diego and I've been buying lipos that they buy directly from China and make up themselves. I buy 2000mah 3S 10-12C packs for $35.00. They actually out perform by a slim margin my TP2100 Gen 2 packs which are double the cost. I had him spec out some 5S4P 8000mah packs for my ION. I can buy them for $225 each. They seem to really work well so far and I've hammered my 3S packs in my T-Rex pretty good. I'm going to tone down the head speed on the ION for AP work and I'll probably be flying it pretty sedately. I'll bet these lipos will work pretty well at less than half the cost of TP or Titanic. We'll see. I may even end up trying some round cells. There's no way I can shell out $800 for one set of lipos yet. Lipos are certainly the bomb (no pun intended) but I think some of these Lipos vendors (TP, Titanic, etc) see us coming.

hey , yep most of the ones that help out are here mostly , welcome aboard , one thing with your heli that you have coming , dont tone it down to far , the esc could get hot and shut off on you . its best to keep it above 85% , if I was you I would get a esc that can handle gov mode , and one that can be toned down without changing the motor or the gearings is the schulze 32-160 and the 40-160.
Chris need to chime in to see if he can help tone down the hacker , like maybe running 8s4ps , or different gearing

I'll run a little lower gear ratio to slow down the blades but keep the motor in it's optimal RPM range. I'll check with Chris to make sure I'm within acceptable limits.
