Raptor G2
ok so ive spent the last week trying to sort out the problem with my gyro not working (so i thought and the local hobby shop) my heli spins in circles. ive just noticed after removing part of the rear rotor assembly that the toothed wheel that the belt goes around spins independantly of the shaft that its fixed to Is tis correct? Is it a case that you have to tension the belt enough to limit this splipping. then why does the belt have teeth.? im guessing and hoping that this is why my heli spins (not enough torgue on the tail rotor) im a total newbie so would app any help
also if it is the belt the needs to be tightened how do you do this?

"the toothed wheel that the belt goes around spins independantly of the shaft"

Bingo! That sure is a problem. I don't know if it uses a grub screw or a pin or maybe even glue to hold that gear to the shaft but it should be a solid connection.

If the belt gear wheel is not badly worn on the shaft, you can apply LOCTITE 262 (Red Loctite) to the shaft and gear-wheel, leaving it to cure over-night. No need to use it sparsely. Just wipe excess of after a while. :smokin:

This is not a permanent solution, but should work until you can replace the unit.

Just make sure the belt pinion is not plastic if you do that. Loctite tends to eat plastic for lunch.

if it's plastic, i'd go with an epoxy or thick ca.

Get a new tail rotor shaft or else pin it if you have a stand drill - there's too much at stake to lose tail control !!

I agree, also get a metal one if they have them. I had a plastic one slip on my heli and I was not going to gamble on glue!
