View Full Version : Target headspeed
What would be a good target headspeed for a logo 600? I want it for general flying around, but ultimately to lift a camera.
I'm thinking of running 650mm blades to start off with, and possibly stretching it to run 700s at a later date. Ideally I'd like to keep the same motor for both setups, and just change the pinion.
I'm using 8s2p A123 cells. I have a 1150kV motor, but I expect to have to send that back - my current projection is 2050 rpm with the smallest 13t pinion.
A Happy New Year to you all!

If you want to run that large of mains you likley will want a 32-3 Actro 17 or 18tooth pinion tops and a Headspeed around 1800 for AP work should be nice. I think the 17tooth will get you good for AP. This would require a voltage of 10S1P equivalence.

BTW there is a user DJVEGH who runs a 600 for AP work, might be a good idea to get in touch with him to see your options.
To correct myself on one point - I just discovered they do pinions down to 10 teeth. They just don't seem to have made it to the UK shop websites yet.

they only make strait cut gears down to that size
Ouch! Yes, you're quite right.

Right!
I worked out who djvegh was (azchoppercam) and found details of his setup. I finally ordered a Z50 800, which has a much better KV range. Projected range for the 13-19t pinions is from about 1400 to 2000 rpm according to MrMel's headspeed calculator - for which many thanks - if you're reading!
I'll contact azchoppercam on RR to see what he did about stretching the boom.

I'm running 690's and a stretch boom with the actro 32-3 max.
An 18 tooth pinion puts head speed at 2000 rpm with 75% on the governor. 10s 4350mah 25c flightpower pack.
I imagine it could carry a ton of weight and still get great flight times, it sure does 3d like a mo-fo !
