I was bored today so I have been playing around in Photoshop again. I thought I would share some of my customising for Phoenix. I have created two new blade images I have improved the stock look Curtis Youngblood Radix Carbon blades and made a new Align 600A Carbon blade. Unfortunately as the T-Rex 600 is mapped pretty poorly in some areas the white blade shows up badly on the tail rotor this cannot be improved on :arggg: (Blame Phoenix for that one)

Something to note the BMP images can be increased in size to get better detail, the blade original size was only 256 x 32 pixels my versions are far bigger at 1024 x 128 but does not effect the performance of Phoenix SIM as this is probably due to the blade being faded out when you spool up.

Anyway just a couple of screen captures to show my cleaner improved look.

As Always back up your old images before overwriting with any of these you will find the blade images typically stored here :-

C:\Program Files\PhoenixRC\resources\textures\aircraft folder.

You will only be able to use one blade or the other unless you fancy tweaking the GEO file for each bird so it looks for a unique BMP file name then rename the blade image. The Align blades also feature a black carbon paddle and silver flybar which to me ages to get to work but I got there in the end.

Some Helis (Raptors etc) have their blades mapped on the main image so this mod will not work for those.

To be honest I think Phoenix are going to have their work cut out with this new paint package as the texturing is really poor in some areas I suspect they will have to re-release some models with corrected mapping. Not knowing what 3D package they are modeled in is tying may hands or I would sort it.

Cheers
Glenn

Thanks Glenn.

Resizing the source BMP file is the trick.

Cheers.
