Is the new version (1.05b) slower than the previous one or is it just me?
I am flying the Trex 450 3D and the simulator has intermittent pauses.
(display quality is set to low, zero wind and no heli failures).

Make sure your antivirus is not scanning in the background. I've had that happen to me and it negatively impacted the performance of Phoenix.

yeah, I think it's slower. Maybe it's better to fly in fields with no water; haven't fully convinced myself yet.

True. I hadn't thought about all the extra effects added, which would require more horsepower to processing. You might try turning off/down some of the effects and see what happens (I don't have my computer with me, so I can't tell you what settings are available).

I set the display quality to low and turned off water affects but it still slow (intermediate pauses). My computer is not the fastest computer in the world (it is a notebook) but I don't remember those issues with 1.04i. My son also mentioned that his 1.05b is slow and has intermediate pauses (different computer, different TX, different Phoenix cable).
Typically I try new software under Norton's Go Back (easy to undo the installation). It was a mistake not to do that with this beta.

Yeah, I think it's common that software with a "new rendering model" (my words, not theirs, but probably what's up with the water stuff) has more overhead, esp. since this is an early beta. I hope it's not completely "tuned" yet.
As 3D software evolves, some of us might have to pony up for faster hardware...
