I've been getting into RC flight after many years of "ground" vehicles. I had a Blade CX-2. Moved on to a E-Sky Honey Bee FP. I love my Slow Stick with Steves Aero wing kit.
I was considering the Blade 400, but I have a JR 6102 radio and really don't need another one. So I'm leaning towards the 450 SA combo with the Align ESC and motor, HS-65MG servos, GY401 w/S9650. Wondering if this would be a good match with the JR 6102?
Any advantage moving up to the 450SE V2 as a newbie?

Sounds like a good setup.

I would go with an SE though for the all CNC parts. A V1 is fine, most of the "upgrades" to the V2 don't really do anything for the beginner.

Do get a PCM receiver though. I flew my Trex for a year on 72MHz and a JR 770. And have the receiver for sale right now. :)

After going back and forth between 450S, S, SA, SE and GFs. I ordered my Trex 450SE V2 today. I'll add the "standard" electronics. GY-401, HS-65MGs and S9650. Time to watch some Finless videos.

All set in the RX department. Just need to pick up the servos and gyro in the next week or so.

Well I was all set on the RX. Now I'm deciding on between a Berg or JR. I've used the small Bergs (4ch) in planes with good results. Any thoughts?

you need a 6 channel radio minimum......you don't need a 2.4 gig setup but you need a decent heli TX/RX setup. Check out E-Bay right now. allot of ppl are dumping what are still amazing radios for dirt cheap as they upgrade to the 2.4 systems right now. It's a great time to invest in PCM Systems.

You really want to run PCM, not PPM (sometimes called FM, but they are both actually FM). Bergs are PPM. The JR may be PPM or PCM depending on which one.

For PCM you will have to run a JR Rx. PCM is proprietary to each Tx maker.

Just got back from the LHS. Picked up a JR R790. Someone had bought and decided to go with a Spektrum instead. Paid $50 for it with full warranty. Works perfect, no more stutttering. Nice to support the LHS.
