Is my swashplate broken?

ok so its taken me over a week to finally get my heli ready to fly
it only lifts off the ground max 3 feet and only for a couple of seconds im also having a bit of a problem trimming it. im wondering if the swashplate is busted
is the large ring supposed to be fixed to the smaller ring or do they move independantly? the way it is now theres not much movement on the controls

We'll need you to give a little more info on it, what's the heli you got?

Your swash is most likely not busted. If it were the, heli would not make it to a hover... it would crash.

Yes, the upper and lower parts of the swashplate can spin independently, but that's all; they should remain parallel. So if you can hold the bottom part level, for example, and tilt the top part by any amount, then it's busted. Also the gap between them should not change at all.
