Hello all;
I have a stock Swift 16 with TT ripper motor (equivalent of century's 600+) running on a 5s setup with 10t pinion. I recently bought a pair of mavrik 550 carbon blades. They are longer, their chord is bigger and they feel much heavier than the stock ones. I suspect that they will overstress the head/frames or electronics, juding by the looks. I want to try them, do you think that my Swft will swing them fine?
Or should I upgrade to metal head (will happen sooner or later :D )before trying these heavier carbons?

If the motor is the same KV as the Century 600+ then you should have an 1800 or so rotor speed with the 550's.

That should be fine on the stock frame etc.

We have some stock Swift 16's at our field that use 530's and 6 cells turning at 2000 and all is well...so I would think that your 550's at 1800 would deliver the same forces...but you would not be able to pull the same pitch range without bogging the motor with your larger blades and smaller battery pack.

Hey,

I'm flying a Swift16 plastic framed model (3rd bearing block added) with a 600+ on 6s using RT 550 mains with the following upgrades :

- Metal head block (have not fitted ali grips yet, but have them ready to go)
- Ali swashplate/washout arms
- Metal tail gear box a 600+ on 6s with RT 550's no trouble.

I am using a 9 tooth pinion & at 100% efficiency on paper my rotor RPM is 2289 and I fly hard 3D with this model no problems or failures.

The only upgrade I would recommend for extreme head speeds is the ali head block as over time the plastic one will get loose on the main shaft.

I have 550 RotorTechs on both of my Swift 16's. One is my heli-cam and the other is a 3D machine. I run them both on 5 and 6S pack with 9T pinions. The metal grips are not necessary IMHO. I have the 3rd bearing in the 3D machine. It also has Raptor 50 struts and metal head except grips. I have metal bell-mixer arms r that I replaced with these

Because they are tunable and the Swift -Blingers are not.
If you go 6S and 550s get a GOOD battery. I puffed my 6S 4000 Max-Amps. I don' think they (last year's anyway) have the grunt you need. A 25C or 30 C 4000 might do it or up the mah's.
