I have got a Zenoah 260PUH motor with a JR exhaust.

After using the motor for a few minutes in the air the muffler comes loose (the inside set of bolts) and blows the gasket.

I haven't been using any threadlock - is it necessary to use this to secure the exhaust bolts?

If this is required - which threadlock should be used? I have both the 262 and the 243. The Zenoah manual suggests using the blue.

Thanks

That is what I use...make sure to use some denatured alcohol or acetone on a qtip to clean the threads out and bolts off. http://www.autobarn.net/per81878.html Threadlock will just melt out of a gasser.

Also tightening the exhaust while it is hot right after a flight will help.

Exhause pipes that have 4 screws are a pain in the behind in my opinion. This is because the inner bolts get loose and you have no way to retighten them without removing the outer bolts and the whole exhaust.

Also tightening the exhaust while it is hot is key to having it stay on as the other gentleman in this post suggests, and since you can't do that with this one it might be prudent to get another exhause that has only 2 mounting screws that you and tighten while hot.

You can try this and that locktite, but hopefully it will work but I think down the road eventually you will be removing it to retighten the screws when the seal breaks and it starts to leak around the exhaust port.
