Hey all,

I am sure this is a simple answer, I have setup my hurri as per finless bobs vids, I have a serial unit soldered onto the esc, my question is, Is it ok to plug a battery in one at a time or do I need to install an on and off switch so that the full 6s initialises properly?

Regards

Paul.

One at a tme should be OK...I have been doing it that way for a while. You will get a spark on the last battery hook up.

If your BEC comes with an on off swi, great, if not it should be OK

I am running the stock gaui bec off a 7.2v 800mah lipo - it is plugged into the battery port of the ar7000 - I am running the esc into the throttle port of the ar7000 - I assume that I turn on the transmitter, the bec and then plug the batteries into the esc?

Regards

Paul.

Yes.

And with the serial connector no power goes to the ESC until the second pack is plugged in.

i just start rubbing the tail boom and she starts to get hot, oh wait you mean turn the power on. yes i just plug one pack in at a time. with only one pack plugged into the series connector, the circuit isn't complete so it isn't "live" until the 2nd pack is plugged in.

I don't know about you....but with the cold weather and high winds....when I rub the tail boom " I " start to get hot !! I can't wait hor heli flying wx.

We had a local Polar Bear flyin on Jan 1st....about 34 deg and winds gusting to 30mph.

we looked like a bunch of "idiots" standing there and trying to fly all electrics...the lipos gave out in the cold....almost impossible to land..."what a great day"

Ate some chili and gumbo....plenty of good conversation...this is a great hobby/obsession.

well, she's mad at me today anyhow. 38f here, 5-15mph winds and i just had to fly. my kong powers only lasted 3 minutes and the cut off kicked in, landed a bit hard and the landing gear broke, right at the antenna hole. some trusty ca glue and duct tape and she was good for the other two packs. question, how can two KP 2500's last only 3 minutes and two electrifly 2200's last 5 minutes without cutting off? same flying on both, mostly hovering and some pitch pumping as i'm still getting used to this bird. the 2200's have maybe 60 cycles on them and the KP's only have 3.

Lipos and cold wheater isn't a great idea... plastic too. I used my second heli with an NiMH... normally you can get about 10 minutes, this time it was only 5 minutes and it was empty. Never had something like this before. It had around -5°C which is 23°F. I was happy that I didn't try my Hurricane. I heard from other people that servos were frozen....

I have Kong Powers also and I found that I am getting much better times out of them than when I started (I now have about 20 flights on them) - they probably just need breaking in.

Cheers,
Mike.

i figured it was due to them not being broken in yet. i just didn't expect the cut off to kick in that early. hopefully i didn't shorten the life of them at all. worldofmaya, what are running nimh's in, and how many of what capacity? i made 2 five cell packs to run in series with my 450. they're just energizer aa's rechargable 2500mah. i got bored one day and just started soldering, but i haven't put connectors on them yet and flown them.

It happened to me once that I was on the way of flipping back from inverted and the LV detected then the ESC cut off the motor power, it landed a bit too hard causes skid to break then . . . ....

It happened at about 3min flying time with the new 3300mAh.

Conclusion is the battery need break in.

Hi,

I have recenly bought some Kong Powers, just on flight so far, bad weather conditions at this time of the year in Sweden :(

I got about 6:30 of the Kong Powers in my 550. What time do you get and how much do you recharge them with?

I'm up at around 7 - 8 minutes of very gentle flying (still learning - lazy 8 s etc), I use a CellPro 4S to re-charge
