I never used 512 PCM. I have no idea what the pilot was feeling. It was just that he could see the steps( indexes) when using 512PCM. Not many people argue against what this pilot sees or does with a heli. He has won 3 WC's, about 15 US Nats, many 3D titles.
The radios he uses are not off the shelf models. Programming and mechanics have always had tweaking done to them.

I'm not saying he couldn't. I was amazed at the small size of the steps he was feeling.
Years ago I read that the top major league players could see and read the laces on the ball being pitched at them. I didn't believe it until I started shooting serious sporting clays and started seeing the dimples on the thrown clay targets, when I was shooting well.

And one point to be aware of is the fact that even the better digitals did not respond to such fine commands , 1024 is way fine , 2048 is just marketing for me.

i had my first flight with my new 12fg today....man... this thing is amazing ! you can change and setup a whole lot of stuff and tune and setup everything to your liking.
my 600n felt 100% more responsive and connected than before... and even my airskipper 50 was a lot funnier and snappier than before.... lol... i was so glad about how my birds perform and react, that i forgot about the fuel level in my airskipper which resulted in a sudden engine turn off followed by a more or less controlled autorotation landing ;-)
for me... the 12fg is definitely worth the money!

If you think 2048 is just marketing? Do some research and read some threads from pilots that have switched from 1024 to 2048 resolution. None of them are claiming it is just marketing.

Your radio movement (stick position) is not the only thing that affects resolution. That is not 1024 (or 2048) steps in the stick it is in the servo control. This means that between full throw (140-150% atv) your radio has that many positions to transmit. Remember ATV, EXPO, and CYCLIC mixes are done in the radio not the receiver. Translate this to the CCPM of my 600.
ATV = 100 100(ATVs set in the radio)/150 (max servo throw) = 66% (682 for 1024 or 1364 for 2048)
But wait we need to do some more math.
Swash AFR 47% so now we are at 320 for 1024 or 641 for 2048
If you add expo, it will not change the number of steps, but it will reorganize them giving you more distance (stick movement) between steps close to the center.
Now that I have gone through all that Bla bla stuff. I can’t say I or anyone else has ever flown 1024 and 2048 operating at the same frame rate to tell if the resolution or frame rate is where they feel the difference. I know the G3 and FASST receivers fell more solid to me but I think it is frame rate not resolution in my old hands.
