What are the servo options for the Hurricane 200 / EP100 V2 ??
I know that HS-55s and BB306s will work - anyone using anything else ??
Thanks,
Mike.

I have GWS PICO STD.
Works great. Good centering and fast enough.

I am using the DSP60 Spektrum digital servo and do like them. They center very well. I did have to mount the front 2 from the inside and shim out the rear elevator servo to center the link to the swash, no big deal to do really. They are very fast so be aware of that, I had to tone them down with expo for a while until I got used to the heli.

I am using the Hitec HS-45HB's on the cyclics and a Futaba S3153 on the tail. So far, this set-up is working well. The Hitecs fit really well too.
Good luck.

Hey scarr
I've got a DSP60 ready for the tail (currently HS50) and was thinking of swapping the others too but I was worried about the current drain. The Gaui BEC is only 2A and I have no idea how much juice these little digis use.
I guess if you are not having any probs I will go ahead and fit the full kit. Is any one else using DSP60s
I was very disappointed with the 306s that came with the heli. Having the bottom of the servo pop off when pushing the arm on the other side is pretty poor.
Cheers
Simon

I am using the 3 DSP60's and the Logictech2100T with the 3100G on the tail. I probably have over 100 flights on it and have never had any problems running off of the Gaui esc power.

Scarr, do you have the programer for the DSP's? I just picked it up tonight and am going to see if it helps center the servo arm on the DSP60's.

Hi Mike
Hs55 will only fit the tail.
I got the light combo from flying-hobby, you get 4 MX306 Ball Bearing servos.
I use a HS55 for the tail so i have one spare for the cyclic.
I here the Hs45 are good and fit the cyclic. But Cost.

I tried the Spektrum DSP last night on my tail servo.
You connect your spektrum servo and your Rx battery to the programmer. It has three "modes” airplane, helicopter and tail rotor. The servo arm will "shake" telling you what mode it’s in. One, two or three "shakes" respectively.
For helicopter and tail rotor modes the gain is increased for faster response around neutral and increased accuracy. Tail rotor mode sets the highest gain for maximum response. I had to turn down my 401 gain from 75 to 60.
Another great feature is the programmer lets you set your neutral point and end points. I have struggled with the 200 tail trying to adjust my DX7, servo placement and 401 to get the tail linkage perfect. With the small parts, 401 stuffed in the frame and plastic servo mounts this has been difficult. With the programmer, I was able to set the neutral point and throws in two simple pushes of a button.
My tail rotor lines up perfectly; the servo horn sits at 90 to the servo and with the end points set (manually turn servo horn to end point or maximum throw hit the PWM button turn to other end point and press PWM button again) my linkage doesn’t bind at all. All this and I didn’t have to touch the 401 or my radio other than adjusting the gyro gain on the DX7.
I was only able to get a few hovers in my living room after the programming but I certainly noticed a difference. The tail was locked in rock solid and extremely fast. VERY VERY fast but still solid, no kickback or slop. I was surprised how different the tail was. It was good before but now it just seems locked in. The only thing I can compare it too is my Trex 450 SE V2 tail and frankly, I'm not sure my trex tail "feels" this good. I do need to add some expo to the rudder to calm it down a bit since now its very sensative.
I'm going to a sports dome tonight with my girl friend (get your significant other a CX2) so I'll have some real flights to report on tomorrow.
I like the DSP (digital servo programmer) so much that I'm going to my LHS today to get more of the DSP60's so I can swap out my HS45's on the cyclic. For $26.00 this has been the best upgrade I've done so far to my 200.
Come to think of it, now that I'll have three extra micro servos I'm only one gyro and a kit away from a second Gaui 200. Bonus!

Buzzkill, I have been thinking about getting the programmer and now I think I will.... I have the Logictech 2100T with the 3100G on the tail and am impressed on how locked in the tail is with it. Seems better than the 401 in the T-Rex, although I have no problem with it, the Logictech just feels a little bit more solid but will admit it is a little more difficult to initially set up than compared to a 401.......

Got some good flights in at the dome tonight! My GF took a few pics that are fuzzy and an accidental video that last about 10 sec. I'll try to post in the morning. Tail held like a champ.
There was about 50 flyers there and probably 30 came over to see the Gaui 200. It was the hit of the night. So much so that I only got in 5 packs in 2 hours. Three guys had the 200 on order and probably a half dozen more are gonna pick one up.
Everyone wanted to know how "twitchy" it was, to which I let go of the controls looked them in the face and said " It's pretty stable!" The hands free, three second hover spoke for it's self.

Hey Buzz, I was one the guys who came up to you admiring your 200 in flight. As soon as I saw it hovering, somehow I knew it was the 200. I was the one with the camera. I took pics of yours so I can 'copy' your setup. It's nice to know someone local with the same heli. I'm new to this addiction and so I'm gathering knowledge as much as I can. Currently, I'm also building the Trex 450 SE V2. I don't know if you saw it but I had it with me last night in its skeletal form. I was stuck on the build and I needed to see other 450s to compare it with to make sure I'm on the right path. Luckily, ALL the guys at the dome are very kind to answer all my noob questions. As I'm a new member on this forum, I did not know there are how to videos on the 450 made available by Finless. All the guys that I talked to that night pointed me to them.
Please keep me updated on your 200. If you're going to order anything for it, let me know and we'll double up the order and split the shipping or something. How often do you go to the dome and which day?

I'm going to try and get down there every Friday and Sat. night until april. For the fineless videos look here:

There's lots of great stuff in there. Just look for the Trex 450 videos. Let me know when you'll be at the dome I'll help ya setup your birds.

Yup, thanks for the link.
I was at Al's today and picked up some stuff for the 200. These should complete the kit. Take a look....

I picked up two Gaui batteries, 7.4V 800mAh, 2 cells for $22 each. What do you think? Would you recommend any other batteries that may last longer than these? Hopefully I'll finish the build before Friday then maybe, if you can, check it over, if time permits, and help me fine tune it at the dome  Just so you know, there's a new 200 at Al's along with some extra parts in stock :YeaBaby: My 450 should be done this week also......and I have a Beam E4 coming tomorrow. If this is not addiction, I don't know what is.

If you need any help setting it up or have questions you have my cell on the card I gave you.
Ya its an addiction but, my girlfriend like's it I like it, it's not illegal and if it kills me what a way to go! :)
Let me know what you think of the Beam, I've read good things about it. I think Bob is doing a build. I forgot to ask you what radio your using?

when this order comes in, I'll probly fall to the ground and cry because I'll be so HAPPY!!!!!!!
The parts are so cheap from what i'm used to that I got a lot of stuff. Think I'll try some new moves with this heli

You really never know what you'll need until you need it. My luck I'll crash and not have a part I need.
Your Parts list looks good to me.
Personaly I'm gonna get another Gaui 200 ready to go just in case ;)
Between the last few post on here we may be keeping Gaui in business. Judging the amount of parts flying out the doors. Certainly from there point of view business is good!

Yeah I am also the one who will crash and not have the part that I need.
I like this little heli even if ive never seen one in person. I like the vids that are out
and the quality of the parts I'll order more parts after i get a few flights on this
heli and see were the weak spots are

When I'm on RediHeli I use the filter "most popular" in the parts list, that gives me an idea of what breaks first ;)
I may try these DSP60 servos on the cyclic tonight programed in "helicopter" mode with the spectrum DSP if I dont fall asleep first.
Just sealed the deal on another Gaui 200. Got a great price, $500 shipped! with:
HS45HB's (cyclic)
Futaba 3154 (tail)
Futaba 401 gyro
AR 6100
CF skids
CF Tailboom
Three batteries (DN dont know if there anygood)
Ton of new in the bag parts
Now I should be covered if something breaks !!

Looks like you cleaned Al's stock on spare parts for the 200. Hopefully they'll re-stock their inventory soon. I saw the wooden blades but opted out on the plastic ones.
You scored a good deal on that 200....lots of extra parts. Where is it coming from? Will you get it by the weekend? It would be nice to see it at the dome.
Definitely I would let you know about the Beam. I'll probably bring it with me if I go to the dome this weekend. I'm curious as how it stacks up to the 450 SE V2 quality wise. You know the distributor is only 2 hours away from us....next day shipping for free...parts for it are readily available too.
The radio I'm using is the JR X9303 2.4Ghz. I'm still getting myself acquainted to it.

For anyone that has DSP60 or 70 servos and the DSP (digial servo programmer) from Spectrum this may help when your programing them.
The instructions are a little vauge but this is what worked for me:
1. Connect servo to DSP.
2. Connect rx battery directly to DSP.
3. Observe "shake" in servo arm denoting servo mode. 1 for airplane 2 for helicopter (cyclic) and 3 for Tail rotor.
4. Pressing MODE switches between modes. Press MODE button for desired mode.
5. REV button reverses direction of servo ( also availible on most radios and gyros).
6. Pressing REV button negates initial mode selection and must be reset.
7. Gentely move servo arm to desired centered position and press PWM button. The servo arm will move to the next "endpoint".
8. Adjust endpoint 1. An endpoint is the maximum distance you want the servo arm to travel in any one direction. Gentely move servo arm to maximum desired throw for endpoint1. Press PWM button. Servo arm will move to endpoint 2.
9. Adjust endpoint 2 and press PWM button. Servo arm will return to centered position.
10. Disconnect servo from DSP and rx battery from DSP.
11. Reconnect servo to gyro connection.
12. Attach rx battery to rx and test new settings.
13. Rinse and repeat.
Just kidding about the rinse and repeat part (just incase I get PM's about water damaged heli's).
The direction for the DSP aren't that great so I hope this helps.
