I hate messing with the rubber o-rings on the Extreme canopy. Are there better standoffs to use that are a bit longer and I could put a screw into?

What is the best way to mount the Fury canopy?

Get the Tempest rear canopy mounts ( 122-27) you will need two of them.
http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=heli&Product_Code=MA122-27

Then you will need two packages of 120-99 knobs for a total of four.

This is will provide a canopy mounting system that is secure and grommets will not need replacing often.

You can make the original rubber gromet last almost forever if you CA it down onto the canopy. My gromets that came with the kit is still perfect condition after 2 years now.

Ricko makes the best standoffs and thumb screws. Ray has them in stock and anodized different colors.

David,
I like the looks of those thumb screws. The standoffs you mentioned appear to be the same I already have.

I did some more looking around and the FREYA CABIN CROSS MEMBER 3 X 33.5 (
http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=414123 ) looks like a good one that will break-away in a crash. Four of those might be just the thing.

Sadly, the Tempest thumbscrews look like they would not work with the Freya standoffs. They both engage the id of the grommet.

William,
I contacted RHR to find out more info on the thumb screws you mentioned.
Why is the RHR website so sparse? I didn't see any mention of any products except for links to other sites.

Give Ray at RHR a call or email. He does not have a lot of the stuff he carries listed on his website. The standoffs that Ricko markets are similar to the Hirobo cross members you mentioned above. The thumbscrews from Ricko have knurled knobs that will also accept an allen driver.

I just got an email back from him. He says he's out of them right now.

PM Ricko and see when he will have more made. He makes them himself, and they are anodised by Chris Cooker. They are the coolest looking and best thumb screws and standoffs I have ever used. The way they work makes it really easy on your canopy grommets and helps them last a long time.

Ray is trying to not overwhelm himself so he can keep his service and support on par with the best of the best. He would much prefer the personal nature of a phone call. Ray rocks!!
