Exactly, so if you like quality go for the DX7. DX6i if you do not care for quality. I would poke around and see if there is any programming differences. I do not think there is though. Like others have said.
I'll wait until I hold it in my own hands before I talk about a quality issue.

I like the programming. Like that it is DSM2. Like that it is priced right. Don't mind the layout and feel. The switches are spaced ok but feel rough and cheap. No worse than other cheap radio's but not great. Screen is like any other low end radio.

The DX7 always felt a little like a toy to me as well, but it has definately grown on me. If it's about feel, they don't really change much and start to feel substantial until 9303, 9C.

If you can afford it get the 7, if you can afford the x9303 you'll never regret buying the better radio. But most people that go cheap buy twice.

You do that.

It really does feel cheap to me. I guess that with all the hype I heard about the DX6i that it was kind of dissapointing when I finally got around to checking one out. It does have all the basic 2.4 goodies at a cheap price; so I suppose I understand its importance. If I had to choose between the two though, I would go with the DX7. Theres not too much of a difference in price. (That could be debatable though.) The 9303 would be sweet but that is out of reach with my budget for now. So just like that... I guess the kind of radio thats right for you depends on how much cash you are willing to drop in the hat, and what application you need it for.

you know I originally felt that the dx6 was cheap feeling and looking with the orange buttons etc. But after I got to using it I got over it and just appreciated it for the tool it was, and the fact that I didn't need worry about frequencies. Since it did what I needed it to do, i.e. competently control my helicopter, the bling factor of the other radios did not mean that much. I only got the dx7 because I wanted the model match feature and "full range" label for controlling my trex 600, and that just to avoid any liability on my part for using a park flyer system on a big model... Prior to that the dx6 actually ran the 600 just fine for a while too, on an ar6000, with no issues at all.

It really comes down to money, ego, and whether you need more than 6 channels I think. Decide what is important to you.

I totally agree with that. Just getting your hands on some 2.4gHz is a gem in itself. As of now, there is expanding models of radios to choose from for different consumers DX6, DX7, 9303, Futaba's run ect. . What do you want? What meets your needs? It is up to you.

Why dont we all just stick a big lead weight into the bottom, and put everything in a different case :), does anybody sell the DX7 w/0 servos for a resonable price? the DS821's that come with it are all worth $120, so 350-120 is 230, so can we get a DX7 for 50 bux more than the Dx6i? man i really wish spektrum just didnt make the DX6i such a "toyish" controller but hey its gotta be way better than the POS im using at the moment

Check ebay I got my dx7 no rx or servos for 190 shipped. Then another 43.00 for the rx.

This is where I got mine. I got my dx7 with an AR7000 for $300. Rx is about $100 alone so I got mine for about $200. If you want the dx7 only they are asking $230. That's a reasonable price I think. Everywhere else I poked around at was asking $250 for just the transmitter.

Be careful, $30 now when you preorder and $150 when it ships, that is $180 with a receiver.

You can buy only the transmitter for $99 here: http://thebarnfloor.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/139_140/products_id/396?osCsid=f819fa2795247f43449a3d6117f84023

Yes. His best bet would be to change to a AR6100 Microlite, about 50 bucks each heli.
