View Full Version : JRPR921 vs Spektrum AR9000?

Hi Guys:

Any difference in these two receivers? I notice the Spektrum unit shows an optional Satellite antenna, which is not mentioned in the JR specs. Does the JR receiver support the extra antenna as well? Any other differences besides the case colors and labels?

Thanks,
Lee

JR supports the second satellite. It is red. It says JR on it.

Spektrum supports the second satellite. It is grey. It says Spektrum on it.

Any questions? :)

Entertainingly, the satellite that came with my JR R921 is red, but says SPEKTRUM just like the Spektrum satellites. The only other difference I've noticed is that the JR Rx and satellite blink while in operation, while the Spektrum gray satellite's LED stays on steady.

Weird, but irrelevant...

If your LEDs are blinking, something is wrong.

My R921 LEDs are on solid just like Spektrum.

I did low voltage test my R921 and the LEDs start blinking when they are seeing low voltage. When the voltage gets too low, they go out.

If there's something wrong, I'm not sure what it could be. I stuck a spare DC-UP I had on there since it shows voltage, and I get a steady 5.8/9 and they just blink away, same as w/o it.

Also interesting is that the one Spektrum satellite bought separately doesn't blink at all during the same time.

I only have about 1/2 hour in the air with this T-Rex 500, but have had no issues related to the radio, blinking or not.

I would call Horizon. I suspect they will want you send it in.

Indeed they do :noteworthy

I luckily had an identical one sitting ready for the next heli I'm building and swapped it out. I first just swapped the Rx itself and tried the old blinky satellite. With the new Rx, the old satellite still blinks but the Rx did not (whew). I then swapped the satellite and its replacement is now on steady as well.

Horizon had no idea why they might be blinking. That, or the person I spoke to didn't think it was worth trying to figure out ;)

Time to find a box, and my receipt...

Thanks!
John

My receiver only blinks when I have the Tx turned on when I plug in the Rx.

Turn on the Rx first and then the Tx and it will not blink. ?

Also move the Tx away from the heli' Rx. Recommended farther than 4ft apart at startup.

I really can't test anything anymore. I sent the one back, and a spare I put in its place no longer blinks. I'm still waiting for the "real" replacement or word from HH on it.
