@ helidirect:

Since you are selling the V2 Version of the HDX500 SE, I got a few questions:

Whats the difference between the HDX500RV and HDX500SE V2 ?

HDX 500 SE V2 description at helidrect.com:

# Uprade from G10 FRP frame to Silver carbon fiber frame - NEW!
# New carbon fiber frame design to allow bigger main gears (up to 130T) - NEW!

Is that an upgraded V1 frame or a complete new design?

Do you have pictures of the new V2 frame?

thx a lot , Stephan

can us previous owners get new sideplates only or are we gonna have to buy entire frame.
really want this upgrade along with the bigger main gear so we can run higher voltages.

I am looking at a 500 sized heli for my next one and like what I see in this V2... I like to have the metal cnc stuff right off the bat and like the direct servo set up.

I would like to know a little more on motor selection, the Tonic-X ones that you show as just getting in look nice but I am unsure on what size motor..... I am not into wild 3D but like extra power for sure (who doesn't??).. I would be looking at a 4 or 5 single cell set up.

A Z-20 1470 or 1700 should work very well for your needs.

Yes, you can just buy the side frames.

Thanks for the reply Ticidytoc. I am not versed on how to pick out the combo of motor/gear/pinion/battery so please correct me if my understanding is off....

OK, if I go with the Tonic-X Z20A 1470KV, I see I can run up to 6s, what sized mAh pack (6s1p) would I be needing, what would fit in the airframe.

To what I can tell I would be looking at 130 tooth main gear and a 12 tooth pinion, does this sound about right?

Thanks

Yes the 12T should be just fine. I was running the 13T and it's a bit too much for the 2 3s packs. either 2 2150 3s packs in series or 1 6s 2500. I can feel the difference in power with the single 2500mah pack. It has enough power with the 2 3s packs to 3d just fine. With the 2500 6s pack its super fun.

I would also like to say if you have any plastic parts on the head or tail, time to switch to metal.

Thanks again, I am still in the parts planning stage on this heli, I have not bought anything, yet..... I am kind of waiting for the testing that you are doing to weed out the weak points and to have a good starting point for my build. Cold and windy here so I am in no hurry, not many days that I could fly for a while.... an advanced version with the "upgraded" parts in the kit right away of course would be ideal rather than having to sort through piece by piece afterwards.

I used to live on a high ridge in Hinckley (where the buzzards return) so I know Lake Erie weather well but am in Waynesburg now, south of Akron Canton ...... We happen to have the second highest property in Carroll county so if there is any wind we tend to get it - but not as bad as up by the lake.
