Is this gyro worth messing with. It is the old mechanical FP-G154 type with the spinning flywheels, kind of cool! I would like to see it fly but I am kind of leary of it. It is 11 years old but only used 3 or 4 times. What do you think? :dontknow

I imagine so :lolol But it may be challanging or it may destroy a heli.

Should work just fine. If it will power up and the motor is turning, it should work. The gain control is the white dial. Turn it to about 60-70% and that should be plenty of gain. There is still a good number of the brass spinning wheel type gyros being used in vintage helis. I see them being used at almost every event I attended last year.
I used the Futaba 153 BB , 154 and the JR 130 for several years back in the early 90's before the electronic gyros came out in 94. Heading Hold did not become available till 1997. The only thing to be aware of with the 154, it takes battery capacity to use it. With a 2400 mah nicad pack back in the early 90's. About 3-4 flights were all that was possible with a mechanical gyro.
Good to see some one that wants to try one of the older gyros. Nothing really to be afraid of, it will work fine.
