Ok,
I know I read a post here that had a setup for the DX6i to me more stable.
The title in the thread read something like "setup more like the CX2"
I know, I know, the 400 and the CX2 are completely different animals, but the thread I'm talking about actually listed what setting to use on the transmitter...also something about INH
I tried using Search, but no go..
Anyone remember what thread this was or provide a link?
Thank you

Sorry,
Heli Freak wasn't even the site I saw the originally post on...
This is from a user known as "rcmadness" over at runryder.com
Here are the settings...
This is intended for new pilots like me that have little experiance with computer radios or heli's. (note like I said I am new to this and learning everyday so take it for what its worth)
I am new to the Heli world and I have been flying a CX2 around the house and tinkering with a simulator to learn to fly. I have had heck with my new B400, I just couldn't keep it stable in a hover and every movement of the stick seemed like it could be my last. I have read many posts on many forums and everyone has great information on how to set up the B400 to make it more responsive and do this better or that better but I did not find information on how to tame it down so I could learn with more forgiveness in the controls.
So I did the unthinkable, I read the manual for the DX6i, learned about dual rates and expo that are availible on the Tx. After making these changes I could actually hover in a light breeze and felt comfortable at the controls so I thought I would share.
1. Read the manual and understand how to make changes to the Dual Rate and exponent settings. It also explains how these work and effect control characteristics. Page 109
The initial settings will be as discribed on page 110 with in the expo set at INH% which means it is inhibited and if you breath on the sticks the Heli is moving in some direction right now!
All three of the D/R swithes should be in position "0" hence the zero after the name.
This is what I changed it to.
AILE 0 100% 20%
ELEV O 100% 20%
RUDD 0 100% 10%
Adding Expo makes it a little easier to fly since the very center of the stick range is less sensitive.
The next item was to change the D/R swithes on the TX to position 1 and put in the following values.
AILE 1 80% 10%
ELEV 1 80% 10%
RUDD 1 100% 5%
(Note I felt comfortable with rudder so I did not change its D/R, you can if its more to your liking)
This makes it less sensitive all the way around with less servo throw and you can learn to fly without your knees knocking together.
Now you can toggle back and forth your dual rate switches and watch them change.
Next read pages 93 and 94 of the Tx manual and learn about the combi switch function. This allows you to just throw one switch and all the D/R and Expo change at once. I choose to use my Rudder D/R switch for this and I fly in position 1, if I feel I am doing well enough, I land and switch to position 0 for a quicker feel.
After making these changes I found the B400 to control more like my CX2. Just remember I said control not fly like it. You can also reduce the D/R even more but I found that 80% was better for me.
Hope this helps and just remember to take it is small steps.
As I get better I will gradually increase the D/R rates to 100% and Inhibit the expo but that will be aways down the road.

Thank you for posting this. I tried it but too used to stock settings it was a little bit too sluggish for me. I like the quicker response when I get too close to a tree :YeaBaby:
But this is valuable info for us newbies, maybe I am growing to not be such a newbie, nah now I will crash tommorow LOL
