A fellow HDX500 owner and myself have been experiencing early puffing with our 4s, 3600mAH, 15C Mega Force lipos . We are both not into heavy flying (yet)
With 4S lipos scare and at a premium here in South Africa, I am now thinking of a 2 x 3S (serial ) setup .
Q1 - will the Hyperion HP H3025-10 motor and Hobbywing Pentium 60A ESC be up to it?
Q2 - What pinion should we run , currently stock 94/24 ?
Q3 - What spec 3S packs would be suitable ? 20C or 25C - I have both

Any positive advice will be appreciated , as local experience is rather limited

A1. The Hyperion motor will NOT be up to the task.
Finless Bob tried 5S on one and it died.

A2. Depends on what motor you get. Now there is another heli on the market with 0.6M pinions the range of sizes we can use has also grown!

A3. The higher the better is usually the case. Test them all and post the results for others to gain from your experience.

Thanks Mick,
I just checked the specs on the Hyperion - so it looks like staying on 4S for a while yet

If you want to move up to the 6s setup. I would recommend getting the new 130T main gear along with the new RV frames and running it on a 1400+kv motor with a 12-14T pinion depending what you want to get on the head. This should put you in the 2500-3000 range. If you want more there are other options as well. I think 3K should be enough on 430mm mains.

This is going to be quite the setup for this heli imo.
