try this, 100-100-100-100-100 on idle up throttle curve, I know it sounds crazy, but a sponsored guy at the club flew mines like that and he was inverting indoors at the hobbyshop and tapping the blades on the ground like it was a trex! I also flipped the grips to leading edge but its a monster now.

Interesting about flipping the Main blade grips. First, why would you do that? And, then would you not have to change the pitch direction. Swash would then move up for more pitch? What advantage do you get from this?

As a total newbie, who having just bought the Blade 400 3D, I'm following so many forums about the 400 & Gyro+Servo problems, that I'm scared to put it in the air when I feel ready. this might be a few months up the road, but already I'm getting worried by the fact that it might not be me that kills my pride & joy...it could well be a production fault!!! So I've taken a remembrance shot of her.

Nice picture.
But don't be afraid, just go slowly.

And...
Watch the videos in Finless Bob's Helifreak Tech Room under Heli Skills and Setup 101.
Also read Radd's School of Rotary Flight.

A sim is an almost must if you have no Heli experience.

Thanks Wolf, I will check out finless bob & have read Radds school, which to me seems superb, have started on his lessons already, I do like his explantion & ideas for learning.

How did you balance your cg with the 401/9257. I purchased the same and it was real tail heavy. I used a 5/8" socket held in the front of the frame with the battery strap through it.
But the socket is pretty heavy to balance it out. I am still in hovering practice. So what does the extra weight do? More stable? More battery drain? Hurt anything? I was considering getting a better battery. Does anybody know what other high performance battery will fit into the 400 and weighs a little more?

It's too bad I can't find it anymore...

I bought the same set, but with 285MG (metal gear) servos.

I didnt have balance prolblems with my 401/9257 All I did was move my battery forward jsut slightly and even at that I thought it was nose heavy. Did you use the stock front mounting holes?

I crashed my B400 last weekend. I had done several successful flights indoors outdoors. Took it to the RC field and after 1 min of hover, about 5-6 feet of the ground, I lost tail authority and spun out of control.

Culprit: intermittent tail servo. Before dissassembly, I noticed that all the wires were pulled pretty tight from all the servos & gyro. For the tail servo, the ground wire had pulled off the circuit board (with the trace). It was just a matter of time...

There's no point trying to get Horizon to cover it but I can't help but feel it was a manufacturing (assembly) error....

Damage:

Main blades
Tail blades
Feathering shaft
Flybar
Tail case
Horizontal stab
Tail boom
Servo gear set
Servo
Tail rotor shaft

Oh well... another product carefully assembled in China

All this to say: check all your wires coming out of your servos / gyro. If the wires are bent at a sharp angle or it look like there's tension on there, you may want to re zip-tie your heli.

Now I was looking at Futaba S3114, what do you think?

It almost make me regret that Helo, Next will probably be a Trex 450.
