I'd get a kit and build it first though. A kit will give you the know how when it comes to putting it back together when it crashes. I built my first R30 in a day. It took all day but 2 days at the most. Then you gain the know how to rebuild in case of a dumb thumb mishap

I second what matthew said,
Building your own heli from scratch helps alot especially when it comes to rebuilding it (and if you are a novice then you will have to sooner or later). The initian price might be alot but saying that if you look after your heli it should give you quite a few years use. I still have my first raptor 30v1 and it still flys even after a year and a half and 4 rebuilds.

I will have to say I had the hardest time choosing which heli to buy. I chose the Raptor 50 and it has been the best. If you have the extra money go with the 50 size heli, it will carry you further through the hobby. But if you have not made a purchase or even if you have you must purchase a flight sim ( Real Flight G2). This is a must no matter what. I found that it is a major and a must investment that you will use throughout the hobby. Let me say this again, "Buy a flight sim" Then practice, practice, practice, practice and then practice, practice more. While you are practicing buy a kit and build it from scratch. The Raptor is about 600 individual pieces and you will have fun building. This will also help you learn the terminalogy needed in the hobby. Then find a local pilot to help you go through the heli and teach you to set it up. This is also a must, if you don't it will cost you more and make things more frustrating. There are lots of folks more than willing to help, you have made the first step by joining this forum. Also attend a fun fly near your area, even if it is a couple of hours away. You will find that too will be a great experience. Lots of luck

Well, I have not bought one yet. I am leaing toward the raptor 50. I really don't want to build it though. I'm still looking for someone that can build it for me.

As for the flight sim, I have not bought one because I don't know how much it should cost, min/max price for it and what all I am supposed to get with it.

www.heliproz.com has the real flight g2 for sale at 149.95 RealFlight G2 w/USB -Interlink FREE UPS!!! GPMZ4203. It does not have the raptor but it does have other heli's that work fine. Building was not hard, I used the manual from TT and from raptortechnique.com and it went together without a hitch. Regardless if you build or do th ARF please get a local pilot to help you. I put one part in backwards and the local pilot spotted the error and saved me. Since then all has been great. A couple of months on the sim and about 3 gallons of fuel and I took off the training gear. The most important thing is to have fun.
