Hello guys.
i wanted to consult you about something im not sure about, i have been
flying the Duralite Rx packs , but i have been rarely checking
voltage with the digital meter, since i dont fly that much, and figured im
never even close to draining the battery. when i charge, i just leave the
battery overnight in the charger, and when i come to pick it up the next day the light is always off on the charger (original Duralite charger).
today i had a strange occurance - i put one Rx pack in charge (one of the two 3600 Mah packs i got a few months ago - 4000 were out of stock) and when i came back after about 2-3 hours, the light was off, but lighted after a few seconds, was on for a few seconds and then off again, on and off every few seconds.
i disconnected the batt from the charger and reconnected, light is off
indicating pack is full.
then i checked voltage (again, with Duralite tester) - unloaded is giving about 8.15V while 1 amp load is showing 7.15V when the pack is FULL after a charge, after some playing around with the servos to drain it slightly the pack might get close to the 6.9V barrier under 1amp load ! even then, it would only charge for a few minutes and then
the charger light will go off again, indicating a full pack.
mind you this pack was flying weekly (about 3 months now) until today and never caused any trouble in the air, but when checking the second (exactly the same) pack i got at the same time, even when not fully charged its showing 8.25V \ 7.35C accordingly, which does sound better to me.
maybe one pack can just have a slightly lower voltage then the other ?
anyway, it just appears that pack #1 charges up to 8.15V unloaded \ 7.15V with 1 amp load when FULLY charged, so im not sure if this is normal (quite some less then pack #2).
please advise what you think about this - both packas were treated well, never hit, shorted or charged with anything but the original Duralite
charger - do you think i need to send it in ? i would hate to ground a
machine over this... but im really not sure.

OK just checked pack #2 after a charge:
8.32V unloaded
7.30V on 1 amp load

this is strange, since both these packs always flew well...

i guess ill leave them in charge overnight and check the results tommorow...
------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: just played with the plugs on the charger (4 way charger) and plugged pack #1 (questionable) in different plugs, on all plugs the light would barely enlight, indicating a full pack, but suddenly, after a few seconds in one of the plugs, the light came alive again with a strong green, indicating the pack is charging... (maybe 10-20 seconds after plugging it in). it would stay on for a few seconds and go off again, on and off every few seconds (like before). this is all happening while pack #1 is getting charged up on the same charger with a constant green light.

this is starting to seem strange...

battery overnight in the charger, and when i come to pick it up the next day the light is always off on the charger (original Duralite charger).

Original Duralite Charger. Is this a charger from the first generation of Duralites before the Duralite Plus batteries. That charger was for Lithium Metal batteries.

Also it is normal for different Duralite Plus packs to vary in full charged voltage. The batteries are matched to have the same voltage when assembled into packs. So it is normal for one pack to be different from another.
