Hi all,

Also does the indicator bar fully fill black when fully charged?.

What's your peak fully charged voltage show?

So far I'm getting 11.5v but the black bar isn't fully filled? Is this normal?

On my first charge the battery meter indicated 11.8v but after that I peek out slightly under. I’ve read elsewhere on this forum that the battery meter is set for 12.6v which is why it shows 75% full on a charged battery. It seems odd to me that the DX7 would ship with a battery that doesn’t register a full charge on the radio but this is apparently normal. Perhaps the extra is reserved for those who put LiPo’s into the radio?

Yes an ION or Lipo will fill the bars up. It is a 12 volt meter.

Even though they and JR say to NOT use lipos, and say they have seen many damaged Txes from using lipos.

mine reads 11.x fully charge, but somehow it will drop to the range of 10.-11V just after a while. But its been quite lasting compared to Futaba 9CHP battery. Once it drop below 10V, it will beep rather fast, so better to charge once fall 10V.

Originally my DX7 showed around 11.5V fully charged, and stayed that way even after a dozen or so regular charge/use cycles flying my 600n.

One night, after I'd been re-balancing the swash height and switching on swash expo (to so what it affected), I forgot to switch the DX7 off when I was finished.

Next day I noticed it was as flat as a pancake! After another 18 hour charge it showed 12.0V. Now every use/charge cycle is the same: 12.0V

Since then I've taken to draining the battery down to at least the alarm stage (either on Phoenix or on the bench) about once a month, and then give it an 18 hour charge. Works for me, so I'm sticking with it; it may work for you!

NiMh batteries work best when they are cycled a few times

11.7v battery gets warm. Stock setup. Never gets full bar.

This may be a stupid question, but the battery that came with my DX7 is a 9.6V... how are you guys getting 11+ volts?

I've had my DX7 charging for 3 hours and its still at 10.8 (this is the first charge, just got it today)

check back in the morning. I get over 11.

when fully charged, it reads about 11v, but in just a few seconds later, it will drop to 10.8v.

9.6 is the NOMINAL voltage. All rechargeable batteries work through a range from fully charged to fully discharged. And are classed to anominal voltage.

Nicads and NiMH are nominally 1.2 volts per cell, but are up around 1.4 votls fully charged.

Lipos are nomainlly 3.7 volts per cell, but are at 4.2 volts per cell when fully charged.

Does it hold a charge longer now or does it still drop off real quick?

thanks,
