I’m just about finished my first TREX450 build which came with an Align 11.1v 20c 2100mha battery. I’d like to pick-up some extra batteries and I’m looking at the Flight Power EVO 11.1v 25C 2500 battery. Will the 25C rating on those batteries give me that much more performance? Is it possible to have too much C rating?

On another LiPo note… I’ve wired the female Deans plug onto my current LiPo but I notice when connecting it to the heli there is a point of connection that would make it possible to touch both leads accidentally with my fingers. I’m looking to replace my Deans with EC3 connectors for better grip and safety. Out of curiosity, how much kick does one of these batteries have if you were to accidentally touch the leads? Are we talking life altering current or just a funky buzz?

a big flash more likely!

You should have gotten some short pieces of heat shrink with the connector. You have to put the pieces on BEFORE soldering the leads (but most people have forgotten at least once).

Slide the HS down and shrink it to protect the terminals.

I’ve applied heat shrink tubing as suggested in Finless Bobs videos – very helpful – but I’m actually referring to the two prongs when connecting. There is a stage as you slide the two connectors together that it’s possible you could touch both prongs. Sure it would be a dumb thing to do but accidents happen and I’ve once done this pulling apart an extension cord from an appliance. Maybe its just me? :)

You can't have too high a "C" rating. The only bad part is as the "C" gets higher, so does the size and weight of the cells. If you have a V2 with the 430XL motor, It's pretty hungry and the 25C should satisfy it well.

Normally, 12.6 volts DC (fully charged 11.1v 3S lipo) cannot be felt with dry hands - you can grab both ends of a car battery and feel nothing either. If your hands are wet, perhaps a slight current could be felt. Now if you are wearing a ring and somehow get it caught in there - it will likely superheat the ring and cause third degree burns.

I have Deans on LOTS of packs and have never touched the two prongs. But we are talking about only 12.6 volts fully charged, that isn't really enough to cause a problem unless your fingers are wet and conductive. Dry skin, no big deal. Just like a 9 volt battery. YOu can touch the top with your fingers and never notice it. Touch it to your tongue and you get a tingle.

Now, get up to 12S, and you might have something to worry about. ;)

Also to consider is evo-light 18C 2500 mAh battery - with power rating of 45A would be the equivalent of a 21.5C 2100 mAh battery but with bigger capacity :)
