I'm a bit confused about expo and my 9c mainly with the switches. I understand what it does but in the programming theres switch up or down and if you flip the switch it changes so I guess I need it explained to me in steps like a 2 yr old.
Also should newbs use cyclic rings ?
Thanks

Second question first. No need for you to use a cyclic ring.
Your 9C has many switches that can be assigned to expo and you can also assign the flight condition switch (idle up). You can set as many expos as the switch you have chosen has positions. In other words, if you assign a two position switch you can assign two expos and a three position switch you can assign three expos. Of course you can leave any position linear. A three position switch has three settings up, ct(center), and dn (down). Most pilots use the up position as the default position. First decide what switch you are going to use and on the expo page cursor down to SW> and rotate the dial to select the switch. To assign expo to a function, say aileron (roll), cursor up to CH> and select #1 aileron. Then cursor down to No> and chose UP. Then set the amount of expo you want and on Futaba radios more expo is a negative number. OK lets say you want 30% expo on your two position switch in the up position. Cursor down twice to highlight exp and dial to -30. If you don't want any expo in up then leave it at "0". Next cursor back up to No> and rotate the knob to DN. Then cursor down to expo and set the amount of expo you want in the down position. When you finish with down cursor up to CH> and choose 2 and set the expo in the pitch collective channel and select 4 to set any expo you want in the yaw channel.
I hop this helps,
Bob

I think I got it. To simplify, I open the menu, flip the switch to the desired position, set the amount I want, then close the menu or move to another setting? And then I can leave the switch in that position for on or flip it opposite for off?

I does not matter if the switch is up down center or sideways. the menu will drive the changes anyway. but if you flip the switch the menu option will either highlight the value to tell you it is active like with a gyro rate or it will show that the mix is on at the top of the screen.

Ok thats what I was balking on. In the menu I couldnt figure out if I was turning on or off or disabling it. I think I figured out how to turn it on, at least it felt like it was on, then managed to ground myself for the week with a stoopid misteak.
