I am interested in other canopies!!! Looking forward to the photos!!
Would you be shipping to the US?
Personally... so far... I like the stock factory FG canopy (red & white) the best. I find it prettier than those at HD. I just wish it was not so damn expensive!!

Fusuno will release new designs. Also taking consideration in making new mould for the look of canopies for hurricane. Also Canomod will have plans to make airbrush for it.
Here are 2 new designs on the work .

wesp like the others if the design and price are right i will be interested  also i wouldn't mind having a plain version to paint myself :)
i like the original hurri canopy, it has a nice design it's just that both the gaui plastic and fg versions are very weak around the mounting points, that's the downside

Good point Phil... a strongly built white base that you can paint yourself would be great.

I am willing to buy a new canopy for my hurricane, but I do not really like the available colors for now. Helidirect, your prototypes are great, I want one of these! (the orange and green is the better looking one I think)

Phil..
mine broke completely at the mounting point, the whole inner hole broke.
i took some fabric (regular cloth) laid it on the backside and hit it with thin CA.I had to drill new holes the fabric was so hard..it is better than new and I think I will do this to all future canopies before they go into service. i came out about 1/2 inch in all directions and now when i remove the canopy there is something "solid" to pop it off and on with.
it is flimsy, but at least it's lite.

mike i did something similar but i used some stuff from the wife's sewing box called "wonder web" it basically looks like a strip of very thin fiberglass and it did the trick

I used thin (white) plastic that I bought in a sheet from my LHS... had it sitting around. Cut a piece and drilled a 10mm hole in it. Fastened 'around' the canopy retainer hole with copious hot glue - used some small spring clamps to hold it all into place (the plastic bends a bit). Once it set the whole thing was much more solid.

Actuallu I used the waist band from a pair of underwear...the stretchy part....it soaked in the ca and formed to the shape of the attachment hole...works great.

Gotta do, what you gotta do !!
Just glad I wasn't at the field and had to use my current pair !! :o
Is anyone has mod Trex 600 canopy to fit on the 550?
Mounted the 550mm blades and the skid, personal feeling is the orignal canopy head looks bit small.
Understand that this canopy is bit bigger in size but I think it will match nice with 550mm blades and Trex600 landing skid. So everything looks bigger and it may help on orientation.

I was in my LHS yesterday and it looks to me as if the Trex 500 canopy would fit better

Well I got back from vacation and had to go to the post office to pick up my two FG canopies ordered via eBay from HeliDirect and I'm seriously pi**ed. The packaging was completely inadequate. No bracing, a box that was too big and the two canopies stuck one inside the other (wiith some anti scratch 'shielding'). Because the box was too big and essentially full of nothing, with no bracing, it had gotten squashed right in the middle so both canopies are warped and one has a fatigue line.
This is not bad handling by the postal guys, it's bad packaging. Some foam bracing inside the canopies would have avoided this issue. A few cents of sense and customer service.
Sending this nonsense back to the US is too much cost / hassle. I'm very disillusioned with HeliDirect (and their eBay shop). I'm gonna stick with ReadyHeli and some other reliable sources.

Hi, sorry to hear about that. I would be seriousy pissed off about that too. My experience with Helidirect is that they package things very well. I would get on to them showing them photos of the packaging, and the canopy damage. I would be very surprised if they did not make it right in some way.
Hope this helps.
Eric.

sorry to hear that ukg! mine arrived well packaged with the canopy full of newspapers and then wrapped in bubble wrap, though unfortunately the canopy looks like it was taken off the mold to early as it's clearly lost it's shape :(

Well I'm assuming the warped canopies were due to the top of the box being collapsed, maybe they just shipped me a load of cr*p. It's bad product or bad packaging whichever way you look at it.
Either way it sucks. Unacceptable.

I hate to say it but I recently ordered some parts as well as a Fusuno canopy from HeliDirect and it was packed like :BSS. Just a box with newspaper thrown-in (and not enough at that!) Needless to say the canopy is deformed no doubt from larger packages compressing-down on my badly-packed box. I'd consider ordering components from them in the future but never any more fragile stuff like a canopy. I think I'll take that business to somehwere like CanopyFX in the future. I know some people have had nothing but good experiences with HD but sadly I'm not one of them!

Well I'm sorry to hear it's not just me... but it reinforces my annoyance at this.
So that's 3 for 3 - you (Mike), Happy Harry and me who have all received deformed Fusano canopies from Helidirect. Unclear whether the deformation is due to us being shipped defective good (as HH believes) or because they got squashed in transit. I vote for the latter but it's pretty irrelevant. We've all been given the sticky end of this.
I note that Helidirect have not responded to this email thread or to my eBay feedback.

it's kinda sad too as i really like the look of the new fusino H550 canopy, but i'm not shelling out for another warped piece of fibreglass!
http://www.helidirect.com/images/helicopter_upgrades/gaui/hurricane_550/FUC-550GB.JPG
it's obvious to me that fusino just used the standard gaui canopy to make their mold so i'm looking into trying some fiberglassing myself, or hopefully those custom canopies that were mentioned a few weeks back appear!

Gaui will soon release a new GFK Canopy that is very sleak and nice looking! My guess is end of this month.
Still, a little larger so bigger packs can be stoved away inside.
